To ask about reactions to nasal flu spray?

I have been trying to get the nasal flu spray for my children but it's been impossible to get an appointment.

I have finally been offered one, but it's the day before my son's birthday. I am concerned that this might make them feel unwell the next day.

They have had it before and I can't say I remember any major side effects, but I may not have been bothered if a birthday wasn't at stake!

Can anyone share their experiences? Would you book the "jab" the day before a birthday?

My ds got his flu nasal spray last week. Runny nose on the day but nothing else after that

Youseethethingis · 16/11/2021 15:49

My DS got his yesterday and has been on top form. You never know your luck though.
I'd just press on an get it done, you know yourself what a battle it is to get an appointment for anything just now.
Chances are he will be fine, if not there will be other birthdays.

Ds1 has never had any sort of reaction to it.

Sciurus83 · 16/11/2021 16:06

DD was absolutely fine, no reaction

stripetop · 16/11/2021 16:15

No reaction. I have health anxiety re the children and asked the nurser, she said she wasn't getting any reports of reactions locally this year and certainly none of my friends have reported anything. The nurse did say a few years back they all got runny nose etc straight away.

jamsandwich1 · 16/11/2021 16:16

DS had it a couple of weeks ago. He was fine!

bungabungaboo · 16/11/2021 16:21

My son had this and also covid jab on same day
Felt fine the day after and cold like symptoms for two or three days
Could be flu 'jab' or covid jab 🤷‍♀️

Both of mine have had the flu nasal spray numerous times. DS had a runny nose for about two hours after. Other than that, no side effects whatsoever.

Dd had it recently. Runny nose for the rest of the day but nothing else.

PurpleFlower1983 · 16/11/2021 16:35

My DD had hers yesterday and she’s been fine.

No reactions here and my dc have it every year. Dc4 refused to let the nurse at school do his once though.

Restart10 · 16/11/2021 16:39

My dd had hers at school and she had a runny nose and a bit of a fever for a day and was fine after.

Thank you, everyone.

Neither of mine have ever had a reaction to it

They don’t like it - Dd much prefers the needle - but never a reaction

thaegumathteth · 16/11/2021 20:58

No reactions ever from it
