Landlord having extremely noisy works done & hasn't told me?

Not sure if I'm being unreasonable, but I moved into a one bed/Annexe type flat about six weeks ago. The landlord lives in the biggee house above & knew I was WFH permanently when I rented it.

Everything has been perfect so far & I rarely ever see them. However, yesterday I wake up to ridiculously loud works being done which I can hear through the wall to the extent it made me jump. No one could hear me on work calls it was so loud.

I pay A LOT in rent (more than 50% of my salary) & I did so because I wanted a nice environment to work in as I now spend so much time at home.

I must say I'm a bit gutted as everything had been ideal thus far. I'm in a contract till Feb & LOVE this little flat, but the noise is ridiculous & will ultimately affect my productivity.

Obviously I understand they own the property and can therefore do what they like - but AIBU to think they should have told me about this? If not before I forked out money renting it, then at least before the builders turned up just so I'd be aware.

Ask them how long the works are going on for, I don’t imagine they considered it would be a huge problem if they don’t work from home themselves. It won’t last for ever so a bit of an extreme reaction so feel so gutted when everything had been idea previously.

Not many people in a semi or a flat would feel the need to inform the neighbours they were having work done.
