To ask if I should throw DP's alarm clock out the window.

Every bloody morning at 7am his alarm goes off not once, not twice but three times.

Three. It obviously wakes me up but if it was only once I could probably go back to sleep. Its also the loudest, most annoying noise. He says he needs it to go off three times because he falls back to sleep. Why they hell doesn't he get up at the first alarm?! I don't need to be awake until 8.30am (no kids).

AIBU to throw it out the window ?

@BillMasen yes, jokes about male domestic violence are generally more likely to elicit disapproval. That might have a lot to do with the fact that the number of men killed by a female partner is positively minute compared with the number of women killed by a male partner. And I imagine the number of women who have got away with killing their male partners due to 'stress' or 'rough sex gone wrong' is similarly minute.

Nobody is saying that female-male violence is OK. But please don't make out that this is straightforward rank hypocrisy. Context matters.

DP.also has 15 minute intervals on phone and alarm. Bugs my happiness!

@Pumpkinsonparade

I read an article that said alarm on snooze is actually bad for you...
oh good grief there's an article on why everything is bad for you!

@JesusInTheCabbageVan I know the stats, I just think jokes both ways round shouldn’t be made

@Reduceddutiesboredom thanks for the apology. I know it was a flippant comment but I believe they should be called out. I do it if my male friends make a joke (I’m often told on here it’s my responsibility to do that) so it feels consistent to disapprove both ways round.

I also note a minority on mumsnet who are apologists for dv against men and I’ve clashed with them on previous threads. Not that you are, I’m probably a bit trigger happy in reacting though…

@lightand I use a Fitbit.

DH uses his phone. So the routine is: phone starts irritated loud noises. 1min while DH works out what the noise is, 1 minute to find out where his phone is, 2mins to work out how to stop the noise. (I may be exaggerating)

Unfortunately, last time I bawled him out, he pointed out that the loud and irritating noise in question was actually coming from my alarm clock.

Probably good that I hadn't thrown his phone out of the window.

MilduraS · 15/11/2021 14:00

My DH sets his alarm for 40 minutes before I need to get up on the days I work from home. It then goes off every 10 minutes. He hasn't gotten out of bed before me in years 🙄

DPs alarm is like bloody klaxon. It goes 9ff at 6.45am... and 7am.. and he usually gets up at 7.05am.... then while he is in the shower the bastarding thing goes off again with him merrily oblivious. It drives me mad...
