Must husband's slippers

BrilliantBetty · 14/11/2021 19:26

DH's slippers absolutely reek.
I can stand it no longer.

He won't put them in the washing machine because he thinks it'll ruin them. Though he admits that they stink.

The smell is just so bad and the shoe spray I tried on them did nothing.

AIBU to chuck them in the bin when he's not looking?

Chuck them in the washing machine when he’s not looking instead Smile

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 14/11/2021 19:28

Just burn them and tell him to buy some more. Gross!

statetrooperstacey · 14/11/2021 19:32

Put them in bag and put them in the freezer for 24 hours, should kill the bacteria that causes the smell.

sleepyshiftworker · 14/11/2021 19:38

Just fucking wash them. Christ sake.

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 14/11/2021 19:41

DH had unwashable slippers so I Febreezed them to death and put them out on the line. They still stank so I threw them out.

TheCreamCaker · 14/11/2021 20:44

Buy him some new ones then throw the others away. I did the same with my husband's slippers.

44PumpLane · 14/11/2021 20:46

Try freezing them, if that doesn't work, Tey washing them, if that ruins them then he will just need new ones

JurgensCakeBaby · 14/11/2021 21:32

If you're going to bin then you may as well wash them, if it works he'll be grateful, if it doesn't they were headed for the bin anyway, it's a last chance saloon

I just had to buy my Dad a new pair. I could smell his old ones walking into his flat and he'd only had them a year!

KatherineJaneway · 14/11/2021 21:35

Wash them or buy him a new pair. Does he wear them without socks?

Whereismumhiding3 · 14/11/2021 21:37

Chuck them in the washing machine on a short low temperature wash and under the radiator to dry (unless they are leather)

If they get ruined buy him a new pair. Really shouldn't have a smelly rank pair of slippers being used... yuk.

FOJN · 14/11/2021 21:48

Put them in a my laundry bag and wash them. If you don't have net laundry bags use some old tights, stockings or pop socks, a slipper in each leg should stop them falling apart in the wash.

Would he wear something washable in future? There's plenty of washable and durable clog type shoes around which are comfortable enough for slippers.

TotallySuper · 14/11/2021 22:04

Just wash them! He probably won't even notice especially if you can dry them on a radiator within the same day

WeMazeUp · 14/11/2021 22:06

Just wash them what the heck are you thinking just wash them he won’t notice if you get them dried or just buy the exact same pair

Thatsplentyjack · 14/11/2021 22:10

Disgusting. He knows they are stinking yet he's still wearing them 🤢 I feel like I can smell them! I've got a memory of a smell in my head now (can't remember what it is though) and I'm now imagining that's why the slippers smell like.

PingedPotato · 14/11/2021 22:12

That is gross

Valeriekat · 15/11/2021 03:44

Freezing doesn't kill bacteria! Bacteria can be stored in liquid nitrogen

Aquamarine1029 · 15/11/2021 04:03

Why on earth wouldn't you just buy him new ones? Confused

AlbusDumbledore2234 · 15/11/2021 04:44

You know what to get him for Christmas Wink

SnoopsCaliforniaRoll · 15/11/2021 04:46

Honestly, just wash or replace them.

KentuckyCriedFricken · 15/11/2021 05:57

Just replace them. They are slippers. Hardly expensive. Cheap pair from Primark will do.

violetbunny · 15/11/2021 05:59

Bin them and get him new ones.

Also buy him some of this, and spray it inside the new ones:
