One month and a blubbery stomach

I have one month until I’m going to a big social event. I have a beautiful outfit I’d love to wear and just tired of not being able to zip up my jeans without mushrooming out the top. One month and joining the gym what exercises do you swear by and think would help me so I don’t focus on the wrong ones. My stomach is soft wobbly with no muscle. Help help!! Do u think I’m unreasonable that a month could make a difference?

Diet is the best way to get rid of belly fat in a month. Cut out ALL sugar and you should go down a dress size.

This means: no chocolate, sweets, cakes or biscuits, no alcohol, no fizzy drinks, no ready meals or take aways, no white pasta or bread, no shop-bought sauces such as ketchup, Mayo or pasta sauce.

Good luck, this works for me without fail every time!

Honestly? The stomach is a hard area to target. Buy a pair of Spanx (or cheaper generic brand), you’ll feel a lot more confident.

TinySaltLick · 14/11/2021 19:03

You can't target areas, that's not how it works. Weight loss is calories in versus energy expenditure. Reduce calorie intake to a safe level, and do cardio exercise to increase the amount of energy you are burning. That is literally it. Any magic formulas, specific diets, certain exercises - it's all just made up.

Cotswoldmama · 14/11/2021 19:03

A good diet, try to run/ walk more and Chloe Ting Abs workouts on YouTube. They're hard work but just 10 mins. Good luck!

Pedalpushers · 14/11/2021 19:31

DIET is key - cut out alcohol, sugar and anything that you think makes you bloated and you'll see a big difference. Make sure you're in a calorie deficit and fill up on vegetables and protein.

Exercise - for a short term weight loss goal focus on what gets you the most calorie burn for your time. This is usually cardio and high intensity interval training, for example doing sprints on the treadmill, and compound strength exercises that target many muscles at once, such as squat+press, lunge+lateral raise/curl, plank+row, burpees. Avoid doing ab specific stuff - your core gets worked during most compound moves, ab work doesn't burn many calories and often building ab muscles without losing the overlaying fat causes your stomach to protrude more.

ironorchids · 14/11/2021 19:32

Exercise won't make any difference in a month. You need to change your diet for this.

RedWingBoots · 14/11/2021 19:34

As well as modifying your diet and doing specific cardio make sure you stand up as much as possible and walk everywhere you can.

Most people who do hard exercise sessions forget you also burn energy (calories) doing non specific activities.

Whereismumhiding3 · 14/11/2021 19:37

Cut down carbs cut out sugar and alcohol for a month, drink lots of water and exercise - sit ups are good and exercises to strengthen core muscles (YouTube is good for this) . But also buy some Spanx!

Good luck, I hope that dress looks fabulous on you !
Remember though that real women do have round stomachs and you don't need to be skinny and flat stomached to look lovely.

Notimeforaname · 14/11/2021 20:51

Its mostly about your diet. 70% diet 30% exercise. Cut out any junk

stairgates · 14/11/2021 20:53

Low carb diet gets rid of my belly fat very easily!

Antonia2021 · 14/11/2021 20:54

Cut your carbs to under 20g a day

Drink lots of water

Sleep lots

Do some IIF

Walk lots and do a bit of full body weight training

LittleGwyneth · 14/11/2021 21:02

You can't lose weight from a targeted area of your body.

Buy some Spanx, eat low carb and drink an insane amount of water every day.

Or buy a bigger pair of jeans.

What’s an insane amount of water ? Serious question lol - 4 litres ?

I’m in a similar boat OP - a month (well 5 weeks) til a big event I need to look lovely for and the 3 stone I’ve gained over the last 2 years is not sitting well.

Obviously to lose it all is impossible but I’d love to get rid of a stone and just feel better about myself in general, which I always do when I’m eating healthy and exercising.
