To change stylists in same salon?

I’ve been going to the same salon for 5 years now. My usual stylist was ill so I was allocated another (more expensive) one. She listened to me, made suggestions, restyled my hair and we had a bit of a chat. I really like my new cut.

My usual one did the same thing every time, though she did it well. But we never really connected and she used to annoy me staring at herself inn the mirror Grin and hanging round for a tip.

Would IBU to change stylists? I know I’m paying for a service and can use whom I like, but it seems a bit of a rebuff to use another in the same salon. Do I just smile and say hello to the old one and say nothing about the change?

Find out if she has a regular day off but other than that just go to the one you like best, it is your hair after all it won’t be awkward at all as she will be staring at herself in the mirror too much to notice (that is awful btw)

Of course you're not unreasonable, I'm sure this must happen a lot in salons.

cowburp · 14/11/2021 11:43

I think because the other one cost more then it shouldn't be awkward. You could find out what days the old one usually works and try and avoid those days if you wanted?

Just change stylist. Then brazen it out Grin, it's what I would do

SeaRabbit · 14/11/2021 11:47

Just smile and say hi and see your new stylist.

I agree about finding out if she has a regular day off. I swapped stylists in small salon by saying I could only make Tuesdays when my regular (& quite scary!) stylist was off & I had to have the one I preferred. It was never 'official' but worked out well.

Just go to the other one. If anyone is cheeky enough to say anything, you loved the way your hair was cut and decided it suited you better. You prefer the new stylist's energy. You felt more listened to. The difference in experience is worth the extra money. Your decision is final.

SeaRabbit · 14/11/2021 12:31

Exactly Lady Monika. We women spend too much time worrying about upsetting people who have actually upset us.

All great minds think alike, and I had already checked about days off. Unfortunately both stylists' days in/off coincide!

I'll style it out - literally!
