To not enjoy a new addition to our friends meet up once a month...

Background:...I meet A and B once a month for a long lunch in different pubs around London....Last year, friend A met a journalist and artist...very talented and now invites him along to every meet up....He is nice and not unpleasant but drones on and on about his job...no other topics for the conversation....Friend B also seems to like him.....friend A gushes about him and how he enjoys my company yet I only say a few words to him as you can't get a word in when he starts the monologues....which go on for the entire afternoon....

I no longer look forward to our meet ups....Friend A is very direct and blunt....I can't understand why she enjoys his company....There is no sexual attraction etc as new addition is happily married etc...so are the 2 friends...
Is there a way to diplomatically mention this.....??

YANBU
Can you say that you miss the old days when it was just the 3 of you?

What kind of journalist?

I've gladly removed myself from a couple of situations where journalists have been included.

Not politely either. (Hi DM illiterate racist propagandist friend in Hackney!)

Can you miss some meetings? I’d hate this

Just be blunt. Especially if she is.

'A, I know you're very fond of X, who is great, but let's meet up just the three of us like we were doing previously for our London lunches, it was a great dynamic. Look forward to seeing you and B'.
