Hi ☺️ I was wondering if anyone else has ever had an allergic reaction to the contraceptive implant
I was on the mini pill for a year after I had my little boy and decided that the implant would be better for me as I don't have to remember to take the pill
A week after having it in my feet and ankles started to swell like a balloon I was also experiencing aching in my elbows , knees and wrists, I went and spoke to my GP and she said it was muscle damage so I waited a week the swelling didn't go down so I made an appointment to have it out , the swelling still didn't go down and I started to come out in small red hives all over my legs and arms, I went back to the doctors and saw a different GP and he agreed it looked like an allergic reaction , he prescribed me antihistamines a week later the swelling had started to go but the hives hadn't so after another conversation with the same GP I was prescribed steroids and everything disappeared.
It's been 2 weeks since then and I've been waking up to my wrists aching again I put it down to me sleeping on my hands in a funny position but now the hives have started reappearing on my arms again so I'm thinking it's starting all over again which is obviously not good as I've already had to take 3 weeks off work because of this .
I'm wondering has anyone else ever experienced this?
I can't be the only one I'll be calling the GP again first thing Monday morning and taking my antihistamines up untill then.
