Reception age DD sent home from school with d&v today. Is there a d&v bug going around atm does anyone know?

She's absolutely fine in herself, currently haring around the room with DDog like it's a race track!

Posting in AIBU for traffic, so I know im being unreasonable i just never seem to get any responses elsewhere Grin

Noro was doing the rounds in the summer but you would know if she had that.

It might be better asking on a local parenting Facebook group rather than MN.

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 11/11/2021 18:39

Everyone round here had it over half term so maybe has just reached where you are! It’s a weird one that makes poop a funny colour

thepinknecklace · 11/11/2021 18:40

Doesn’t really matter whether it’s going round or not - she’s been sick and had diarrhoea so she’s been sent home.

She can go back after 48hours providing it doesn’t happen again

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 11/11/2021 18:41

My son vommed once last night and nothing since!

Yes, like a straw colour. And foul smelling - the gas is eye watering too bless her

She's def not 100% though as she's off her food...even her most favourite food, which is VERY unlike her!

You say going around like we all live in the same place!

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 11/11/2021 18:46

Straw colour yes. I was describing it as hummus 😆 smell outrageous!!! Hope she feels better soon. Be aware it has a bizarre incubation period. DS1 got it on a Friday. I didn’t get it until the following Thursday. DS2 got it on the following Saturday! So be careful for yourself 😳

MrTulkingIsFeelingHorny · 11/11/2021 18:46

Rotavirus? Straw coloured poo is what I remember about that joyous time in my children's lives. It seemed to go on forever, too. XH and I had it as well, albeit just the D part (thank God).

I miss my children being little, but I don't miss the stomach bugs.

NanaPorsche · 11/11/2021 18:46

My granddaughter in Y1 vomited on Monday morning so didn't go to school and has been in hospital on a drip since last night as she's severely dehydrated. Not kept even a sip of water down all this week.

They've said it's a virus.

She's was last sick at about 5pm today and at long last she's been told she's getting some anti sickness medicine. She's still waiting for that.

It's gone through the school like wild fire but no family members have had it yet.

MrTulkingIsFeelingHorny · 11/11/2021 18:47

Can't be noro, btw, as nobody would be playing with the dog if they had noro!

There are always d&v bugs going round, especially in the winter.

Tealightsandd · 11/11/2021 18:50

Covid causes gastro symptoms.

I hope your dd feels better now.

Dogshitduty · 11/11/2021 18:52

My daughter has been the same. She has also had the flu vaccination this week and I wondered if it was a side effect or just a bug

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 11/11/2021 18:55

Covid causes gastro symptoms

Sure but not everything is covid

We have had the long incubation period too. DS had it last week Weds/Thurs but was better pretty quickly. Then DH got it earlier this week. DH had a PCR for another reason which was negative so definitely a tummy bug
CristinaYangismySpiritAnimal · 11/11/2021 18:58

A sickness bug going around where? The whole country?

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 11/11/2021 18:58

@mynameiscalypso

I found the vomiting was very short lived but the weird poo took a few days 🤢

Neveranynamesleft · 11/11/2021 19:01

How are we supposed to know where you live ConfusedGrin

Delatron · 11/11/2021 19:01

Maybe not the whole country. But we’ve had nasty Norovirus round our town. Lots of people have caught it.

DS goes to school in the next county and for the first time they’ve said there’s lots of gastroenteritis going through the school. I guess obviously it’s the time of year and depends where you are in the country (we’re Bucks/S.Oxford) but it’s very prevalent round here.

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 11/11/2021 19:02

I thought how bugs work is they do work their way around country? Due to how people mingle/travel to work snd school/travel to visit family?

CurryLover55 · 11/11/2021 19:04

There’s d & v in some secondary schools here (South West) but so far DD12 has escaped. Luckily none of us are prone to tummy bugs. DH has never been sick in all the 20 years I’ve known him. Having said all that I contracted noro 2 years ago & have never felt so ill in my life! Hope your DD is ok OP

VanillaIce1 · 11/11/2021 19:09

There's been a weird bug going around for months where I live. You vomit once and that's it. Every child I know seems to have had it since June/July.
