then a vegetarian/vegan must be a meat eater. Amirite?????!!!!!!!!

Because being against vaccine passports while having had the vaccine yourself apparently makes you an anti vaxxer, so following the same logic vegetarians and vegans must be meat eaters.

this is getting ridiculous. You can be fully vaxxed and double jabbed - but haven't had your booster - you're ritually unclean.
We need some real action against this shit.

MercyBooth · 11/11/2021 16:35

Its fucking mind blowing isnt it

This is a TAAT

SickAndTiredAgain · 11/11/2021 16:42

While I’m not sure I follow the logic of the vegetarian comparison, I agree with your general point. We’ve never had mandatory vaccination required for schools in this country and while plenty of people may wish we did, I don’t think anyone who was against it would ever have been called “anti-vax” provided they did vaccinate their children.

I don’t support vaccine passports, but i think it would be odd to call me anti-vax given that I’m fully vaccinated, volunteered at vaccine centres and volunteered for the vaccine trials.

samyeagar · 11/11/2021 16:59

This is but one of the many, many, many words and phrases that have been over used, largely to shame people into silence and compliance, that no longer have any real meaning.

Mantlemoose · 11/11/2021 17:12

Fully agree! I'm double vaccinated and due my booster on Monday however because I support people right to choose what they put into their body I am an anti vaxxer!

The utter discrimination of non vaccinated people is diabolical. In Scotland if you are identified as CC and have a negative PCR if non vax for medical reasons you can go about your business. If non vax for personal reasons you need to SI for 10 days.

SoupDragon · 11/11/2021 17:17

this is getting ridiculous.

The constant whining on all sides is ridiculous.

Maverickess · 11/11/2021 17:19

I can't quite follow your vegan/vegetarian comparison but I think I get the gist of what you're saying.

Apparently I am an anti-vaxxer because I have concerns about what's going to happen in social care after today, when we lose yet more staff, and how that's going to impact me as one left behind to pick up the pieces and the people I care for, and those who won't be able to access care.
Even though by definition, to be left behind I must be vaccinated.......

I have similar concerns about the NHS. I read that 93% of frontline staff are at least partially vaccinated. If a decent number don’t get vaccinated by April is Sajid Javid really going to sack 5% of NHS frontline staff. Is that feasible? I thought the NHS was already under massive staffing pressures. I want them all to get vaccinated but if they don’t are we really going to get rid of them?
MercyBooth · 11/11/2021 17:27

@Maverickess Ive just seen a Channel 5 news report on the NHS struggling and ambulance wait times and the care worker vaccine mandate will make it worse.
Care workers in the homes who have been vaccinated will be run ragged, each doing the job of three or four people.

EgonSpengler2020 · 11/11/2021 17:27

I'm not vaccinated because I suffer from immune thrombocytopenia and have decided on balance that at my age ,general health and having had a significant amount of covid exposure pre vaccine (through my job) that I did not wish to have the covid vaccine. I have been called selfish, anti-vacc, idiot etc.

I am categorically not anti-vacc, I've had all other vaccines (including this years flu vaccine as I've had it on many previous occasions uneventfully) and DD is up to date with her vaccines. I would encourage any one who has not had their covid vaccine to seriously weigh up the risk and benefits to themselves (rather than society) and to have it if they have any covid risk factors.

But apparently I'm still anti-vacc. Things have got ridiculous and nasty in this country now.

MercyBooth · 11/11/2021 17:28

Not to mention the effect on patient flow. (i hate the term "bed blocking")

Exactly , how can you be anti vax if you have had vaccines. Its mind numbingly stupid

Yep, both sides are being pathetic. Why drag it here? For even more attention and for an argument?!

Yes and have you seen the adverts trying to get people to work in social care on TV? 🤦

No mention of 14 hour shifts without a break, physical and verbal abuse, paying for your own uniform, sickness scales that include covid (caught at work), constant pressure to work more and more hours, no sick pay, giving your own time for handovers and staying back to complete jobs, the effects of shift (and especially night shifts) work on your health, minimum wage or pennies above (even for seniority) and the extra NI to pay that is going to ensure that people pay less towards their care, but actually won't be improving what we deliver now.

"There's never been a better time to work in social care"

I despair.

verandina · 11/11/2021 17:39

It's confuse and conquer phase.

It will look like a great “booming, buzzing confusion,” but an end-run around national sovereignty, eroding it piece by piece, will accomplish much more than the old-fashioned frontal assault. - Richard Gardner

Maverickess · 11/11/2021 17:40

@SickAndTiredAgain

I'd hope that as more people have more exposure to the NHS regularly than social care, they'd be more aware of the effects of losing yet more staff, but sadly I don't think that's the case.

I'm fully vaccinated but I really resent this 'Do it or else" attitude towards health and social care staff, why be like that? Why not educate, build trust, reassure instead? Why are we not worth that?

ItsmyaddressIsntit · 11/11/2021 17:43

@MercyBooth

Exactly

You are correct OP but calling someone, anyone, an anti vaxxer is just to try and discredit or silence them .

I can see the sense as can others. Keep doing what you’re doing you are allowed an opinion !!

Quartz2208 · 11/11/2021 17:46

Whereas I agree that you are not an anti vaxxer I dont think you initial comparison is correct.

I think in this situation you are the vegetarian who is being accused on not being fully supportive of animal rights/environment because you dont follow a completely plant based diet. Or a Vegan accused of it because they eat avocado. A multi layered approach.

For me I am vaccinated and cant in some circumstances see that vaccine passport (if they include the option to have a negative test as well with 24 hours) useful.

I disagree with sacking of staff due to lack of vaccination. I think it isi an ill thought through move

Xenia · 11/11/2021 17:48

People throw insults and generalisations around because it makes them feel better. I have so far chosen not to have this particular vaccine and that's my choice. I don't mind what people think.

ronfa · 11/11/2021 17:49

I commented that losing more care staff is the last thing we need & the vaccine should be optional particularly if we end up with more staff shortages. Apparently that's anti vaxx!

MercyBooth · 11/11/2021 17:55

@Maverickess Yep i saw that DH and i were doing the over it last night.
