You bet I'm judgey about the child of an acquaintance doing Tik-Toks about the merits or otherwise of weed v magic mushrooms and the like. This is an educated young person, nearly finished University, will be looking for a job soon (I imagine). Isn't that totally cringe and naff?

Can they delete them or are they somehow out in the ether forever?

Well when future employers have a nose in the Internet to find all that, I'm sure they'll be top of the bin list.

Making publicly available videos about illegal activity is clearly not a good idea, but I am surprised that you think 20 is too old to take drugs - I don’t think it’s actually a typical teen activity!

If we look at the professional sports people, musicians etc whose careers have suffered a decade after a mis-judged Tweet, I'd say it doesn't bode well for his future!

I’m not much older than that and would find the idea of doing that repulsive. I’d also be out of my job (and reputation) very quickly.

I've seen loads of 'jokey' tiktoks of 30 somethings joking that as soon as they have a sip of alcohol, they decide they're going to get some cocaine.

As in by 20 you should be old enough to know better. It's not about the drug taking per se (they are a fact of life) but the stupid broadcasting it all to billions of people - using your real name to boot!

So then you should know that not all of them always make sensible decisions.

No age is perfect for it but I'm sure they will fit right in with the drug-taking 'decent middle class professionals' we hear about all over mumsnet.

Most people I know who took/take drugs started doing it in their 20s, not their teens.

More disposable money, less likely to be living at home and under parental surveillance, etc.

So not especially surprised, really. Stupid to put it on the internet but again, the sheer volume of coke/MDMA related Tiktoks out there suggests they're not alone.

He’s an idiot if he is posting on the internet about taking drugs. I wouldn’t employ someone if I found a video like that.
I’m hypercritical because i also did a lot of drugs in my 20’s and probably posted stuff that alluded to it on MySpace.

Agreed, but most of the drug takers I know don’t seem to know or care where the drugs are actually from.

Also, I’m not suggesting that taking drugs makes you a bad person. It’s just that usually supply chains are concealed, and most people would rather just not think about the possibility that kids are being exploited/ gang crime.

I’m guilty of buying cheap clothes without putting much thought into it, so don’t want to get on my high horse here.
