Put this on AIBU as i never have many replies from other chats.. suppose it could be an AIBU ....

Im feeling quite stressed about whether I am doing the right thing for my baby.. my health visitor is unfortunately not very helpful and seems to want me off the phone whenever i call (probably 4 times in 8 months...) and i end up leaving the call with not much advice...

This is my baby routine with food...and it would be great if you could share what you do..

*7am - 8oz bottle
*Sometimesand extra hour sleep, sometimes up and awake for day
*9.30am - baby bowl of baby porridge, sippy cup of water and mashed fruit
*10.30am - nap
*1pm - 8oz bottle
*2pm -nap
*4.30pm - dinner (ellas kitchen mixed with soft steamed veg and mash potato) as an example...water and a fruit puree yoghurt or fromage frais
*5.30pm - bath and change for bed
*6pm - 8oz bottle and bed
Sleep until 7am but wakes now and then as dropped dummy or needs changing or teething!

Im scared of finger foods even though i know how good BLW is! I do ket her have some baby crisps like the natural tomato puffs and very very soft veg to hold too

Am i along the right lines???????

Yep sounds pretty good!

Sounds good. Don't be scared of finger foods it's really important for them to try things and choose bits themselves. She will gag but thats ok.

Baby is at the perfect age to introduce more lumpy textures and finger foods, there is a window to do this in else you'll find it much more difficult later on, so now is the time to be brave and more away from smooth purees. Otherwise looks great!

What do you give for lunch? Any snacks?

TotallySuper · 09/11/2021 22:36

An 8 month old does not need snacks IMO

Your schedule looks really good, you’re doing a great job. The fact your baby sleeps for such a long stretch at night shows this. The only thing I might change going forward is to swap the 1pm bottle of milk for a solid lunch meal similar to the dinner. Once they’re on 3 solid meals they only need about a pint of milk (550-600mls) inclusive of milk in porridge/yoghurts etc on top of this. Check out the nhs website, baby foods/drinks section, I found it useful.
