My ex & I have had 50:50 shared parenting for over 11 years. My DC told me a few months ago that life with Dad was pretty stressful as he & his partner are always fighting & shouting & could they be at mine more.
After an amicable discussion, my DC now spends the majority of their time with me.
I have let us all settle in to the new arrangement for a couple of months but I text my ex last night to say that as all seems to be working well, we now need to discuss maintenance going forward.
My ex has kicked off over text saying that he will not pay to see his son less & if I make it about money then he wants to go back to the original 50:50 agreement.
WWYD? Any advice? I’m just trying to figure out how to move forward fairly without my DC getting stuck in the middle of this.

I think at your son's age (presumably he's at least 11?) his feelings would be taken into account, I hope so anyway. If he won't agree about maintenance then it is CMS isn't it.

If it actually meant my child had to go I'd do without the money but I don't think you should have to.

I’m just worried about his Dad guilting him into changing the schedule so that he doesn’t have to pay anything. I know my DC wouldn’t want upset or a disagreement over this & would agree to the least stressful option.

I’m on the cusp of going without the money only to make my DC’s life easier & to not rock the boat after all this time but it does feel like I’m just sucking it all up to keep everyone happy & getting the shitty end of the straw - once again!
