To ask you about health insurance for a child

Posted here as I figured it would get lots of traffic

For a while I've been thinking about looking into health insurance for my 18month old. We don't have great GPs and it is likely he will have skin problems in his teens and 20s and potentially the rest of his life, this is something that all the males in my family have suffered with

Would it be worth getting health insurance now so that if the time comes, we can see private dermatologists etc?

Please share your experiences as we have never done this before and am keen to hear from others and whether it is worth it.

Thank you

Also curious as to whether it is possible to get insurance just for a child. I can't imagine I will be able to get it as I have a pre existing condition.

Probably be cheaper just to pay for the dermatologist appointments tbh. Why not just put some money in a savings account each month? That way you’ve still got the money if he doesn’t need the private appointments.

Insurance is a gamble and the house always wins.
