My first thread on MN so please bear with me. Only posting because I worry about anything unexplained.
I sleep very badly and often listen to the radio during the night on my smart phone. I listen through headphones so as not to disturb my DH.
Two nights ago I was dozing then woke up to the sound of a call menu being repeated through my headphones. I thought it was a programme about call centres but as it kept going I checked my phone and found it had dialled Vodafone. Obviously I cancelled the call.
Last night I was listening to the radio through my phone and it suddenly started to dial my local builder. Again I cancelled call immediately.
Now my address book app was not open. I had not touched my phone, not had anyone else either of those times. I had not called either of these numbers for over 2 years so it was not like a pocket dial or last number redial.
I am baffled and also a bit worried if my phone can dial random numbers like this with no input from me. Has my phone developed a fault, is it being hacked …or is there a ghost in the machine?
Any suggestions or reassurance welcome, thank you

My phone is old now and it goes through this - has done since I had a new screen. It just randomly flips through different apps, opening everything. Thank god it doesn't type anything! It does call people, too. Originally I thought it was calling people who'd just called me, but then it opened my contacts and called people there. It only does it if I'm already on the phone - if I've clicked it off then it doesn't restart it all.

I think it’s likely to be a fault.

I imagine you're falling asleep, accidently pressing buttons then suddenly waking without realised you've started to drift off.

*realising

My Mum's mobile phone rang me at 1.15 one morning. Frightened the life out of me because I immediately thought she was ill. She was actually fast asleep and her phone was in her handbag. Its a flip phone so couldn't even be accidentally dialled. Ots never done it before, and hasn't done it since.

I've noticed that my headphone wire can activate the touch screen sometimes. Could it be that? If I'm using them in bed then I make sure I put my phone face down

Are you talking in your sleep and asking the phone to call?
