My car has a fault that is covered under warranty so I booked it into a dealership for repair on Wednesday. The closest one is 45 mins drive away.

I was told that they’d need the car all day to properly diagnose then repair. Luckily I have a maintenance plan which gives me a courtesy car which was dropped at the dealership as a taxi would have cost £60 each way.

Anyway when I dropped the car off, they said they may not be able to look at it that day. I was Hmm as it had been booked. I didn’t just turn up but said OK as I had the hire car until Friday AM.

I rang them Thursday afternoon (no contact at all from them) and they said car won’t be ready until the next afternoon (yesterday) as the part was arriving in the morning. So I had to extend the hire car with my maintenance company.

I rang them several times yesterday afternoon to see when to pick it up as I needed to arrange collection of the hire car too but I kept getting an answerphone. I left a message but wasn’t called back.

Hire car was supposed to be returned at 10am this morning but dealership is still going to answerphone and they have not contacted me at all! My maintenance company isn’t open at weekends so I can’t extend the hire car again.

This is now the 4th day they have had my car after telling me it would take a day to fix. The issue is minor as well. A new battery!

WIBU to go nuts at them when I finally get my car back?

YWBU to 'go nuts at them'.

YANBU to make a (calm, written) complaint and escalate it as high up as you can.

YANBU to be annoyed at the lack of communication from them. But I would not “go nuts” at them as the U.K. is experiencing terrible supply chain disruption due to Brexit and one of the most affected areas are car parts. I would imagine that you could keep the hire car over the weekend and call the maintenance company on Monday to sort out the courtesy car paperwork then.

Ha if it's a puegeot, you're not getting it back any time soon.

Mine was a day repair....114 days later I got it back, and yesterday it was back in as they hadn't repaired the actual fault.

And when I got it back, they still needed to order the correct part.
