To find this more annoying than fireworks?

I don't hate fireworks. I took my dc to see some last night at an organised event. They were low noise and lasted for no longer than half an hour and they weren't in a residential area.

What I do hate however are people who let them off in their gardens at all hours on all days leading up to and after bonfire night with no warning. But I accept that while fireworks are on sale to the general public there's very little than can be done to stop it.

What I really really hate is when people brag about it and mock those who dare to express concern for their pets or wildlife. Our local community page has been full of back and forth debates about fireworks and the sheer arrogance of people basically just saying 'fuck you we'll do what we want and I don't care if your dog might have a heart attack' is shocking. Lots of 'be careful don't set fireworks off someone's goldfish might not like it' type comments too. I actually find this shitty attitude harder to tolerate. Absolute lack of consideration. I wish I could think of a witty reply to these morons.

Yes that is a horrible attitude

I think fireworks should be just for organised displays for safety reasons though

hennaoj · 05/11/2021 16:18

Those comments are usally from men who have very tiny penises.

DailyRepeatGuarantee · 05/11/2021 16:28

Sounds like my community page! Of I had the guts to not damage my career I'd reply with "and you're evidence of what is exactly wrong with our society, no actually the humanity race" or "you're a lovely scum bag aren't you"... Or "ah that's why your son is so a dick in the school"...

DailyRepeatGuarantee · 05/11/2021 16:29

I'll leave you to work out my typo's Grin

Mojoj · 05/11/2021 16:31

No cure for stupid I'm afraid. Organised displays only should be the normal. Far too many morons with access to explosives

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 05/11/2021 16:31

Its Diwali at the moment which is also contributing to fireworks. (We had loads last night!)

Icebreaker99 · 05/11/2021 16:34

People are absolute arses on community pages and try to out arse each other and think themselves hilarious.

Don't despair OP most of them don't even believe the crap they spout they just say it for attention.

I came off mine for the exact reason, though funnily enough it doesn't happen on my local mum's page...

alloalloallo · 05/11/2021 16:54

Yes, our community pages are like this too.

It’s always the same people, making the same desperately unfunny comments

My friend posted on one a couple of days ago - her elderly, retired horse had ended up very badly injured after her knobhead neighbour let off huge fireworks a few feet away from his stable.

The comments were horrendous - ranging from it was all her fault, she should have moved him somewhere else to the usual posh toff horse owner shit.

My friend was more upset that no one had bothered to warn her - she was really just asking, nicely, if people could warn their friends and neighbours with animals before setting them off.

One of the main culprits is a local business owner and over my dead body will I ever use his services - I’m sure I’m not alone

Poor horse may have to be put to sleep depending how he gets on the next few days.

dozyjosie42 · 05/11/2021 17:01

@alloalloallo that is so sad. What absolute arseholes.

In my experience the people like this are usually the first ones to complain at anything that may inconvenience them though....
Entitled pricks.

It is shocking isn't it? And it is not just one day, but seems to go on all week. I just moved and hope that it will be a lot better here. Don't you think it is a symptom of a societal shift where more people feel that consideration to others is a weakness?

MissyB1 · 05/11/2021 17:18

I wish they were only allowed to be sold to venues having an organised display.
