Depressed Dad

I'm looking for some advice on how to help my Dad. Over the last two years he has lost his neice, his Mum, his best friend and his job. He has always struggled with mental health but he has really gone down hill since he lost his job just over a year ago. He doesn't want to get a new job as he says he can't face applying and possibly being rejected as he says he doesn't feel mentally strong enough. He doesn't have a partner or any other friends really, he isn't close to his siblings and I am his only child. I am feeling a huge responsibility to help him get back on his feet but I have spent the last year trying to encourage and support him but he is getting worse, not better. He won't go and get help for his depression and anxiety but he will tell me he doesn't think he'll be here next year.

It is really upsetting to hear. I've tried every approach I can think of - kind, supportive approach, firm no nonsense approach...you name it I've tried it! I just don't know what else to do Sad any advice, tips or experiences that could help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Hi @Nellesbelles
Sorry I don't have any advice as such but thought I'd give this a bump and give you a hand hold. Depression is so difficult on the family as well as the person suffering, you sound like you are being there for your Dad but now he needs to help himself Flowers
