It's been years since I've had a child with CP.

Is this it?

For full disclosure, he's got hand foot mouth, which is what I've been putting this down to.

Chicken pox are like little fluid filled blisters although they sometimes start off flattish. With all my kids they multiplied very quickly, like by the hour! Within the first couple of days, all mine were covered head to toe. They had no other symptoms though.

justabigdisco · 04/11/2021 15:04

Hand foot and mouth doesn’t normally go on the belly area. Looks like chicken pox to me

Workissue123 · 04/11/2021 15:09

My ds has what I think is hand foot mouth since it's going around his nursery, but only now on day 3 do we have a first spot appearing on a hand. Day 1 was a face rash, day two was spots on his bum and down the back of his legs.
So I'm going with hfm... Not a doctor though!

They are popping up in front of my eyes.

But I've no experience with HFM and whether they appear like that?

Looks like chicken pox to me

Soubriquet · 04/11/2021 15:35

Yep. That’s the pox

I remember with my dd, I was giving her a bath and the spots were appearing as I was watching.

Spotty234 · 04/11/2021 15:51

I didn't expect that answer.

I remember with DC1 I knew the second I saw the first spot.

These ones aren't as convincing as his were.

I would say so

authenticforgery · 04/11/2021 15:56

My youngest two had HFM recently and they had spots on their tummy and bum as well as hands, feet and mouths. I would personally say HFM if you know he's already got that.

usernumberno46273 · 04/11/2021 15:59

The 2 together ok the last photo looks like they are bites due to the little dots in the middle. I wouldn't say CP but time will tell. If it is chicken pox, will be loads later or by the morning.

ew1990 · 04/11/2021 15:59

DD has not long ago had hand foot and mouth, confirmed by gp, it was everywhere, arms, legs, belly, hands, feet, mouth in her ear, the only place she didn't get spots were her back.

the worst were the blisters on her tongue she was only 6 month old bless her

saturdaynightgin · 04/11/2021 16:01

My DS has these spots, as well as a general pin prick rash over his torso. The doctor has said it’s a virus 🤷🏼‍♀️

Would be very unlucky to have HFM and chicken pox at the same time, i would say its just down to the HFM but maybe send your GP a photo to get their opinion? With our GP we can send an online request for a callback and include photos

tiredoftiers · 04/11/2021 16:17

I had the same quandary with my DC took them to the GP who said "I don't know", and asked me what I thought it was. Grin
We decided to leave it a few days and see what happens, cause it didn't really change much, short of keeping them isolated.
The spots disappeared without the crusting of chicken pox, and decided on a diagnosis of hand foot and mouth, so returned to nursery as per their policy.

Spotty234 · 04/11/2021 16:22

Thankfully I'm WFH tomorrow then we have the weekend.
I think we'll know by the morning.

Thanks for your help.

Hmm there's more and they look like blisters.

OP posts:
updownroundandround · 04/11/2021 16:36

Certainly looks like chicken pox on his torso.

updownroundandround · 04/11/2021 16:40

Just make sure you don't take him with you to get Calpol and Calamine lotion, as he's infectious.

Hangingwithmygnomies · 04/11/2021 16:41

When my 2 DS had HFM they had a spotty rash all over, my eldest DS had it really badly.

Hangingwithmygnomies · 04/11/2021 16:42

Are they blistering as they're coming up?

Squirrelinatree · 04/11/2021 16:47

My son had what looked the same last month. GP said she couldn’t decide if it was or not so I was to act as if it was. He ended up with about 25 total on his whole body and wasn’t unwell at all but they did seem to ‘scab’ after a few days where as when he’s had viral rashes the spots have just disappeared.

Spotty234 · 04/11/2021 16:49

Oh I forgot - you can't use ibuprofen can you?

OP posts:
Spotty234 · 04/11/2021 17:01

It's confirmed.

I found the mothership under his arm.
