Weight gain support thread?

Sorry, mainly posting for traffic!

I am quite a bit underweight at the moment. I’m 5ft 8 and currently 8 stone 2 😢. I always hovered around the 9 stone mark but due to stress and poor eating habits recently I’ve dropped quite a lot. I’ve been to the doctors etc and there doesn’t seem to be a medical reason for my weight loss so I am going to really push myself to try and get some weight back on. I’d love to get to around 10 stone.

Would anyone else like to join me? Most of my friends are either losing weight or don’t see the issue so it’s hard to talk to people in real life.

Today so far I’ve managed to have toast and Philadelphia with orange juice for breakfast and scotch broth soup for lunch with a buttered roll and a macaroni pie. I felt really sick before lunch and would probably not bothered having anything before but I’ve forced myself to eat and feel better for it now. It took absolutely ages to eat it all though 🤦🏼‍♀️. Planning to have an Aymes vanilla shake with milk in a few hours, not sure about dinner yet.

Just commenting to bump for you.
If you don't get many takers, maybe a 'healthy eating habits' thread would be better supported? You could do a first post explaining that it's not about weight loss but about eating well.

Are you eating healthy fats, and could you add shakes as an extra rather than as meal replacements? Protein powder in various forms is a good nutrition booster.

I’ve got Covid and my appetite has absolutely gone. I’m down 2kg in less than a week and I don’t want to lose more. I usually love food and it’s utterly miserable at the moment. So far I’ve had two pieces of toast (one with half a tin of beans) and a small packet of oatcakes. We’re supposed to be having currently for dinner but that’s not really talking to me. I love the sound of a macaroni pie!

I can relate OP. After a prolonged period of stress I dropped nearly 3 stone and really want to put a stone back on. But it’s like my appetite has totally changed- I never had a problem with eating before! I always thought it would be a nice problem to have (I was always wanting to lose a few pounds before), but I know people think I look gaunt now and my face has just sagged.

I try to eat lots of nuts, peanut butter, protein shakes etc- calorie dense but hopefully not too unhealthy.

How are you doing today @Wolfie11?

I haven't been underweight since I stopped breastfeeding, years ago. However, the nurse at the bf clinic recommended adding peanut butter or full-fat dairy products to your regular foods - to increase calorie intake while not forcing yourself to eat things you don't like. So, if you snack on celery/apples, stuff it/spread it with peanut butter. If you make grilled cheese, use butter and full-fat cheese. And so on.

Best of luck. Gaining (or losing) weight is hard but I think it is relatively easy to "maintain" weight so I hope you'll hit your target sooner rather than later and keep it level. x
