Is there anyone here from Germany?

AIBU for traffic.

I am supposed to find a company in Germany that do gifts/ nice alcohol or hampers. My company have a client in Germany and we would usually send some type of gift from the UK around Christmas time, however this year the costs of delivery are really mounting up and last we checked the delivery was more than the gifts themselves due to customs and other factors.
So this year I have been tasked with finding a company in Germany to send the gifts directly to the German clients to avoid the mounting overseas shipping costs and I am really struggling.

I would really appreciate if anyone that is from Germany/ can speak German could link reputable companies/websites that I could have a look at as a google search just brings up German themed gifts in the UK or UK based companies that ship to Germany.

Any advice on how to actually search to find companies located in Germany would be really helpful too.

I live in Switzerland, which is a bit different.

I have used the Swiss site drinks.ch for booze, and found it efficient.

There is a sister German site, drinks.de no idea about, gift sets, wrapping etc. and the site is in German!

No idea of quality, I just googled in German

I’m not German, but lived there for. Long time - where is this client based in Germany ?

incognitodorrito · 04/11/2021 17:53

Sorry, unable to type on new phone. If you give me an idea of where they are based, I can give you possibly 1 - 2 local ideas that would create and deliver a hamper for you.

Alsterhaus in Hamburg also have an English language personal shopper service and will make up hampers and deliver. Not cheap though.

Amazon.de

It depends on what you are looking for. Due to the Christmas markets not really happening last year, several companies offered hampers with things you could usually get at the market. Towns also offered them in some cases.
Have a look where the client is based and then check for something in the area. That's usually nicer than a generic online one.
If you want them to get something "British", perhaps the British Corner Shop offers something. There's also a "German" website for Next and for M&S, I believe.

Kiduknot · 04/11/2021 18:04

Amazon.de and then change the language to English on the flag by the search bar.

In Austria, not Germany, but German-speaking. Is this the kind of thing you're looking for? Based in Augsburg.

The German word for hamper is Geschenkkorb. I would try and find a company in their city.

This company is also nice www.dallmayr-versand.de/Geschenke-Ideen/Die-neusten-Kreationen

Basedingermany · 04/11/2021 18:28

Personally I would go with Brogsitter....linked up thread by someone else. The company is based in the Ahr valley which was devastated by floods in July. Am sure the company and its employees can do with any business it can get.

Basedingermany · 04/11/2021 18:38

Brogsitter quality is excellent btw!

sparklins · 05/11/2021 09:34

Thanks so much for the replies! I wasn't expecting to get any.
I will look through the links.

They are based in Köln for anyone who asked.
