Hi all.

I have been slightly under the weather since Friday evening, temperature and a bit of a cold type thing. I pcr tested on Monday as started with a cough too. That was negative thankfully, I have had 3 jabs.

I've almost completely lost my voice now so I'm assuming it's a laryngitis bug but I have a constant irritation feeling in my lungs when breathing in or out. I'm clearing my throat constantly and having coughing fits to the point of nearly vomiting as I can't catch my breath. Should I bother my GP?

Has anyone had laryngitis and is familiar with how it feels.

My sons just had this exact same bug, ended up needing antivitocis for chest infection after a week of coughing poor thing. Can always go to WIC to get checked over, I'd perhaps wait a few more days though to see if it runs its course

Laryngitis is usually viral, settles by itself in a few days, antibiotics will not help (it settle any quicker), take paracetamol and/or ibuprofen for comfort

I misread your post OP, you were asking about your lungs, if the irritation is in your windpipe area, this is generally inflammation & again antibiotics aren't helpful in helping symptoms resolve more quickly.

This patient information leaflet explains when antibiotics might need to be used, get well soon

It doesn’t sound like a GP visit is required. We all get coughs and sour throats from time to time. It is not so much bothering your GP, but I doubt they can do anything that you cannot do yourself to relieve symptoms.

If you are eating/drinking normally, and working etc, I’d say not.
Obviously take painkillers, fluids and rest.
But if you aren’t better by Friday, if you’re getting worse, then yes I’d ask for an opinion.
