Do they move if you brush them away or blow on them (like blowing away a feather)....nits stick to a hair and need your nails or a nit comb to make them budge, dandruff is not attached to anything and moves around if you make it.

Looks like shampoo buildup/not rinsing well enough. There is a trick to tell if it is louse eggs or not… shine a torch on it. Nits will glow like cats eyes on the road!

Also look for black specs looks like dirt but is actually lice poo! If it were Nits with that concentration of eggs you would definitely be able to see live live crawling around!

Hmm how old is your daughter? If under 18 I'd assume as the grown up adult you know best. Chuck some hedrin once at it anyway and then follow up with head and shoulders going forward - easy compromise.

Flowersintheattic2021 · 03/11/2021 11:35

My kids haven't had nits before so I've never been very good at spotting them. She's under 18. Made her wash her hair x2 with dandruff shampoo before school this morning and I've ordered hedrin. I'll have a look see if move never thought of this. Thanks

Wet hair and fine tooth comb after putting on conditioner.
You won't miss the little buggers.

dementedpixie · 03/11/2021 11:38

Too close up and unfocused to tell. Try running a nit comb through it and see what you get out

dementedpixie · 03/11/2021 11:39

Looks like big flakes rather than egge shaped but it's hard to tell from the photo

dementedpixie · 03/11/2021 11:39

Egg*

Cheerbear23 · 03/11/2021 11:44

Difficult to tell, could be dandruff flaky scalp. If you can flick / move the white bits off it’s likely to be dandruff, if you have to slide them off with your nail it’s probably bits.
Buy a cheap conditioner and nit comb before you buy hedrin. After each comb through the hair wipe on plain white kitchen roll and you’ll see the buggers then. Look for fully grown lice, eggs (like a tear drop shape), black tiny dots (lice poo) and nymphs (baby lice).
Sympathies if it’s nits- I spent weeks getting rid of mine and DD’s this summer.
That’s another thing- check whole family too, DD gave Me nits and DH did a poor job spotting them on me until it was late.

Will second combing out with a nit comb and conditioner. If there are black specs in the cond it’s prob nits. If not then she will have lovely hair afterwards!

I never found Hedrin any good.

Yes me too hedrin didn’t totally clear ours, what did was repeatedly going through it with conditioner twice a week 😩
gogohm · 03/11/2021 11:52

Look like not rinsing the soap to me

Flowersintheattic2021 · 03/11/2021 11:59

Thanks everyone I'll get cheap conditioner and do it for her later. She's terrible for washing hair. It's down her back and very thick. Thanks so much xx
