To weep for humanity

In the space of about 10 minutes I've read about a father in Afghanistan selling his 9 year old daughter to a 55 year old so that they can afford food.

Then if that wasn't shocking enough, the next story was a 'man' who had been injecting his toddlers with heroin to get them to sleep. Social work criticised over bit acting fast enough.

I can't put into words. What the fuck is going on? In my line of work I read about shitty humans and horrible stories daily but this is something else.

Don’t look at the Star Hobson case if you’re already feeling down. There’s a lot of awful news at the moment.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 02/11/2021 22:12

It’s shit but nothing new.

Now you hear about it.

ButYouGottaHaveASkillJeff · 02/11/2021 22:12

And I can't read any more of the Arthur Labinjo-Hughes case.

Maybe stop reading/watching the news?

bumbleymummy · 02/11/2021 22:54

The sad thing is that these horrible things have always happened. They’re just reported on a lot more now and we have access to a lot more news.

TurnUpTurnip · 02/11/2021 22:54

I never watch or read the news as I find it too depressing

Lockheart · 02/11/2021 22:55

The world has always been full of horrible things. And wonderful things, too.

We hear about more of them more often now, that's all.

DinkyDiggies · 02/11/2021 23:03

Absolutely do not Google “Fauci, PETA and puppies’ unless you want to be sickened to the core by it. I’ve read a lot of horror/ sci fi/ dystopian fiction and that just about comes close to the worst of it.
