If it was serious I'd know right?

I've had abdo pain for a while now, a fair bit of weight loss but that's been discounted as I'm already fat and could do with losing some Hmmanyway.

I went for an urgent colonoscopy and when booking the colonoscopy the nurse said I needed a CT scan before hand to check for cancer basically. Went for the scan, went for the colonoscopy and that was fine. The scope didn't find anything but I didn't think it would because my pain is where my liver is.

It's been 4 weeks since the ct scan and I've heard absolutely nothing, nada zilch. I still have the pain, so I rang the hospital and was told 'he's only just got your results so will be writing to you and your GP to discuss next steps'

Erm what next steps? What did the scan say?!

My gp won't give me any help or advice until we see the results from the scan.

I'd have been told if it was cancer or if they saw something dodgy in my liver wouldn't I? I won't find out in this letter surely?

From experience if they’ve found something they will write to you with an urgent appointment to speak to them in person or over the phone. I wish you good news .

LakesideView · 02/11/2021 16:54

You usually hear quite quickly if there’s something concerning…”next steps” may well refer to discussing what else they can do given you still have the pain assuming the other tests were normal.

Idontlikepeas · 02/11/2021 16:56

Next steps may be just discharging you

Etonmessisyum · 02/11/2021 16:56

I had a colonoscopy last year I had loads of inflammation lots of biopsies done but didn’t get results for ages, mri same thing, was fine but told if you don’t hear anything it’s normally good news which it was but if you’re under the consultant you could ask for his secretary but likely you’ll get a letter soon. They’d just send you a letter for an appointment if it’s news you need to do something about.
It’s a worrying time but hopefully all is clear, I have a fatty liver so losing weight to help with that.

picketingpanic · 02/11/2021 16:57

Possibly just fats on the liver. That can cause discomfort too,

RocketPanda · 02/11/2021 17:02

First of all I'm not trying to scare you but abdo pain and weight loss needs to be investigated. You are just going to have to wait for your letter. No one here can give you any answers. I do wish you the best of luck, I've been in your position and its not a nice place to be at all.

GobletofFiyah · 02/11/2021 17:20

Thank you! I think I'm just going to have to sit tight and stop over thinking. His secretary said she couldn't tell me anything over the phone and he'd be in touch.

I'm already in the process of losing weight so if it's fatty liver I'm going to just accept
It and carry on with weight loss
