Just had 2 positive lfts, going to do a pcr in the morning.

I'm early 30s, morbidly obese, had booster jab 11 days ago. And also shitting myself.

If you've had covid could you tell me how it went? Currently only symptom is a sore throat that's come and gone across the day, it's been niggly for a day or 2 I'd say.

Please don't jump on me for my weight, I'm aware it's a risk factor but I have real issues with using food as a coping mechanism, and it hasn't been the easiest few years for me covid aside.

OP posts:

Most people have it with no symptoms
Most with cold flu like symptoms
Only a few are really ill
You would be in hospital now if you were going to be bad

nitsandwormsdodger · 02/11/2021 13:26

A sore throat is probably co incidental it’s not a symptom of covid

So basically you are A symptomatic

Sausagedogsarethebest · 02/11/2021 13:28

I'm overweight. Got my positive test result text to me on Christmas Day last year. Extremely mild symptoms, didn't even realise I had it, and only had the test because my husband had tested positive. I realise I'm one of the lucky ones. I hope you don't get any worse symptoms OP.

Scirocco · 02/11/2021 13:31

I hope you feel better soon. It can be really scary to test positive, but you've got several important things on your side here - you're young, you don't have severe symptoms so far and you're vaccinated. Those make it much more likely that you'll get through this without complications or serious illness.

Take care of yourself, drink plenty of fluids and call your doctor or 111 if you feel worried or you feel you have worsening symptoms.

I'm in my 40's, obese and asthmatic. I had no symptoms apart from losing my sense of smell for a few days.

A sore throat is actually one of the most common symptoms

Slightly over weight but over 40 and DH 50. Felt pretty rough for a few days, probably day 3-6. He had a cough I didn't. I had a really sore throat. Headaches, general pains and tired. Then felt ridiculously tired for a few more days/a week or so. Then better! Once I started feeling better, I got back to normal really quickly. A month later now, no noticeable after effects. My fitness has gone down a bit but think that's from sitting around, not the actual illness.

Thesearmsofmine · 02/11/2021 13:42

I tested positive a couple of weeks ago, mid 30’s and overweight. I felt very tired and like a I had a cold for a few days, I lost my taste and smell which is back now and I have a cough which has lingered but not awful.

HelplessProcrastinator · 02/11/2021 13:44

Sore throat is a symptom of COVID. I’m on a vaccine trial and had to track my symptoms when I tested positive. Sore throat was one of them. I didn’t get a cough despite being asthmatic and didn’t lose my sense of smell until about a week in to feeling unwell. Delta variant often presents like a head cold. My daughter and I had stuffy noses and sore throats mainly.

I wasn’t terribly unwell (I am tipping into obese myself) only 3 days were I was unable to do any work at home. It has taken many weeks for my energy levels to return though. I’ve been functioning but unable to exercise as normal and lots of early nights. After about 8 weeks I am now pretty much back to normal.

Everley · 02/11/2021 13:46

I am mid 30s and overweight. I felt like I had mild flu for the first few days, then my only symptoms were sinus pain, headache & a bad cough. Felt well enough to potter around the house and read/sunbathe in the garden. I lost my smell and taste for about 10 days. I had had one vaccination when I got Covid.

MarigoldMoonStone · 02/11/2021 13:56

I had a sore throat first. Then just felt really tired. Still lacking energy now & feel tired quite easily. I’m not vaccinated or overweight, just for context :)

Lynne1Cat · 02/11/2021 14:43

I'm 62, obese. I got Covid in July, felt really ill for about 10 days but then got worse and ended up on a ventilator (2 weeks) when I then got Pneumonia and had a stroke. Another 4 weeks in hospital, then 6 weeks of physio at home. - BUT now I'm fully recovered. No lasting effects, thankfully.

FindingMeno · 02/11/2021 14:47

I'm vaccinated and although I am in a riskier age group than yourself, op, and asthmatic, my run-in with covid was no worse than a bad cold.
Try not to panic, expect the best, and allow yourself to rest.

XelaM · 02/11/2021 14:51

Everyone I know who has had it (including my own daughter) have had mild symptoms. Hope you feel better soon!

Kittyswhiskers · 02/11/2021 14:51

My DH had a bad headache and temperatures on and off for 8/9 days but apart from that no respiratory symptoms and I think the thing he struggled with most was exhaustion. And he lost his sense of smell, but that was neither here nor there.

Yetano · 02/11/2021 14:57

I'm getting over it now. I caught it almost a month ago. I was quite unwell for a few days. A couple of them I just slept. Most people I know had it very mildly.
I still have an awful cough.

On the positive side, it destroyed my appetite for 3 weeks, so my clothes are no longer tight on me.

It feels like a bad cold for me, with a big headache and aching muscles. I do have a cough but not really continuous. Taste and smell currently intact. I do think the vaccine is doing its work by making cases much more mild.

soberfabulous · 02/11/2021 15:17

I know no one who has suffered with COVID and most people I work with have had it. I haven't.
