Parking princess

So, theres a woman in my road who is a total parking bitch. We live in a public street with no restrictions, very few houses have drives so parking space is limited. Theres one woman who has home made no parking signs on her fence, and leaves notes if you park there as she feels entitled to the space outside her house. Sometimes theres literally no where for me to park apart from there, I was moaning about it to a friend and she said 'I dunno maybe park on a nearby street, if she gets that het up about parking you have to feel sorry for her really so just be grateful you're not her'
I was ENRAGED by this , I actually have a pretty crap life at the moment and I'm just wondering when I get to be treated like a princess or does it only happen If you're a total dick and leave notes on everyone's car. You know you sometimes just get sick of 'being the bigger person'

Sorry I'm with your friend life's too short to argue with idiots

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 01/11/2021 15:58

I know what you mean, but life really is too short

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 01/11/2021 15:59

Nope. We had a new person move into our similar sounding street and stick signs on their walls. Many people, including the traffic warden, took them down.

Eventually I had a chat with her about something else and we got onto parking and I took a deep breath and told her that nobody would take any notice and she was just making herself a bit if an outsider in the road.

She took them down, but now won't speak to me and has told another neighbour I was rude about her signs!

It's petty and pointless. Especially as people like my DH will park there specifically, to make a point.

LaikO · 01/11/2021 16:00

Park where you want, just bin the note and ignore her. I'd put it over her fence so she had to tidy it up every time she did it, but I'd also tell her not to bother me about it again if she said something in person.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 01/11/2021 16:00

Park where you like and ignore the silly cow and your friend

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 01/11/2021 16:01

Life's too short to pander to them imo.
Park there if you need to. If she whines about it, remind her it's a public road and mention you have cameras in case an 'accident' happens to your car.
Any note that appears on your windscreen gets put back through her door with PUBLIC ROAD written in red pen.

The more people just suck this shit up to 'be the bigger person' the twattier the twats get. Fuck that.

Sirzy · 01/11/2021 16:01

It would make me more tempted to park there tbh! But I fully appreciate I can be a petty bitch sometimes.

girlmom21 · 01/11/2021 16:02

Park where you want. If she needs a dedicated space she can speak to the council.

This is what I was getting at I think. Just how bad behaviour gets rewarded

BadlyFormedQuestion · 01/11/2021 16:05

Can you make highly decorative signs of your own and put them over the ones in her wall? Like the woman on that thread ages ago who decorated her neighbour’s sign.

Nice signs saying ‘it’s a public road. Park here if it’s convenient to you’ and such like.

DrSbaitso · 01/11/2021 16:06

Take the notes, draw pretty flowers all over them and post them through her letterbox.

Hoppinggreen · 01/11/2021 16:07

Well it’s very easy for your friend to tell you to be the bigger person when she’s not the one who can’t park her car near her house isn’t it
Parking bitch doesn’t own the road, park where you want if it’s legal

mistermagpie · 01/11/2021 16:07

I would just park there anyway, she doesn't own the road! And I'm a massive people pleaser and hate confrontation generally, but she doesn't just get to decide that she has a private parking space. If you want you could write to your local council and ask them to confirm if there have ever been any restrictions on the road or whether it's just public, and pop a copy of the reply through her door if she gives you hassle. I actually work for a local authority roads department and we get this kind of thing in FOIs all the time, not in England but I imagine it's the same.

tanstaafl · 01/11/2021 16:08

Treat it as a request OP, because legally that’s all it is.

When there’s nowhere else to park , you park there.
If you want to appear non-aggressive, have a note that says ‘Nowhere else to park.’

Don’t add ‘Sorry’ or ‘Apologies’.

Slip note behind hers.

Relax.

Unanananana · 01/11/2021 16:08

I had one like this over the road from me. I'd park in 'his' space at every opportunity coz I am petty. He'd verbally abuse me and any other woman who parked there (not men though funnily enough). He started putting traffic cones in the road so I moved them and parked there. Then he put them on my car bonnet so I stole them and reported him to 101 for anti-social behaviour.
He piped down and now parks like everyone else.

Do not give in. Their smugness will be unbridled. And its fun to poke the wankers quite frankly.

Seeline · 01/11/2021 16:10

There are two approaches - if her leaving notes on your car gets you down, then I think you have to park elsewhere. If her leaving notes on your car has no effect on you, and you can still smile and wave when you see her, park where you damn well please.

ElftonWednesday · 01/11/2021 16:13

If you can do it without damaging anything, remove the signs and chuck them into her garden.

Wizzbangfizz · 01/11/2021 16:18

Genuinely can't understand this mindset. However many years ago I used to park outside someone's house and my vehicle was deliberately damaged by them (couldn't prove it) as they were so irate someone had parked on their road. It beggars belief that people think they own the space of road outside their house. Where we are lots of families have teens with cars now which don't fit on their 2 car drives so someone is usually outside our house - as long as I'm not blocked in I couldn't give a fuck and pity people who do!

Wizzbangfizz · 01/11/2021 16:19

And well done @Unanananana Grin

Whammyyammy · 01/11/2021 16:46

Id make a beeline to park there every time, she'd get the message

This. People behave like twats only because others allow them to.
godmum56 · 01/11/2021 16:58

I don't think its a question of gving in or not giving in, just ignore it. If you need to part there you park there, if not then not.

SeasonFinale · 01/11/2021 17:10

Park there. If she leaves a note put it back through her door saying - note left in error. I am parked on a public road. Every time

Chocolatewheatos · 01/11/2021 17:10

I do often think that it must be so horrible to be so angry all the time that you do stuff like that. Their mind must be so bitter and miserable. Such a horrible place to live.

I'd just screw the notes up and throw them in her garden tbh.
