I'm autistic, part of that means I need things to be right and I get very attached to the things I use in my daily life. If they aren't right I feel physically unwell for a very long time, I actually can't "get over" it if they don't feel right.

I have a set of mugs which are perfect size and shape, and are all gold and white, that I've collected from Tesco because they feel right to me to drink out of.

My husband has broken one 😭😭

Because of being autistic, this has made me feel physically sick. I want to find a replacement but they don't make it any more and there's none on eBay.

AIBU to ask if you have this mug in your cupboard and would sell it to me? I'm desperate.

It is Tesco Ivy and Fox in Soho design in gold and white. Thank you.

I’m not autistic but I know this feeling (although no where near to the same level as you). A long shot but have you also you checked Facebook marketplace and gumtree?

If you can’t find a replacement how about turning the situation on it’s head and looking at it differently: keep a pair at home for you and DP to use together when you’re having tea/coffee together, and have one for you to use for work.

Then, if having a set of four is specifically important to you, start the hunt for a brand new four set of mugs to have separately.

There are companies that sell odds and ends of china to make up sets. I've just googled and found this one:
www.chinasearch.co.uk/tesco/

I don't know if there are any others but it may be worth contacting the people and asking them to keep an eye out for it

AutumnDragon · 01/11/2021 11:14

I've googled some more and there are loads! Try searching on China Matching

Did a reverse image search and the second result was this
www.kennokyos.top/ProductDetail.aspx?iid=73316540&pr=

Bloody expensive but hopefully worth it for your mental health.

Cuntness · 01/11/2021 11:42

Could ask them to post, OP.

It's not local to me otherwise I'd pick up for you.

Op I don’t think this site is legit, I’d not use it.

Hi OP, I don't have those ones but wish you luck in your search. I'm also autistic and have had this problem so you have my sympathies.

I have alerts on eBay for certain keywords and have managed to find spares of my favourite cup over time that way - thought I'd suggest it too in case you haven't yet? Also look on Shpock if you haven't already.

TrickOrTreat21x · 01/11/2021 12:59

I have the same issues as you op also have autism, I hate it when something like this happens.
Have you tried eBay?

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 01/11/2021 13:20

@Cuntness Where are the ones you saw located please? I'll happily collect and post if near me.

Ponoka7 · 01/11/2021 13:22

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 01/11/2021 13:26

I've messaged them to ask! Thank you! Fingers crossed.

Thanks everyone for helping, I really appreciate it (I know it seems really mad of me so thank you for understanding).

Fingers crossed, OP.

Sorry I can't be more help. If I go into my local Tesco this week, I'm happy to look on the off chance.

3scape · 01/11/2021 16:30

Hinckley is actually close to me. I'd be happy to move it towards somewhere for you (for example I regularly visit Peterborough and my husband is often in Kettering, I am also due to visit near York quite soon) .. I know it's an odd thing to say, but in my hobby there's a sort of informal slow "post" system for moving bulky items around.

DriftingPlateTectonic · 01/11/2021 16:59

I hope you get some replacements op

Thank you but I don't really know anyone in those places. My parents live near Worcester but are too old to go fetch them for me now (mum is blind). I've asked the seller if she will post them but no reply yet.

Thanks but they don't make this design any more. I might tweet Tesco and see if they would help though.

The OP said "there's none on eBay" in the first post.
motherofcatsandbears · 01/11/2021 18:58

Just found this on Tesco: not identical but you could have 2 and 2 in a set like you often get

www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/306122071

It’s still the same basic mug, gold/ white but a different pattern.
You could also try contacting Tesco HQ xx
