November 1st Christmas lights?

I had to go and get petrol tonight, and saw two houses already decorated for Christmas. Obviously it's up to them, but I can't help thinking I'd be sick of them by Christmas if I put mine up now. Have you put yours up yet? Am I being unreasonable to think it's a tad early?

Some people obviously do enjoy early Christmas decorations. Your feelings don't trump theirs[/quote]
I'm not saying they do. I am just saying why I don't put my decorations up early.

Far too early!! It’s still October!

December 1st at the very earliest. And that’s Advent. Christmas starts on 25 December!

I love Christmas lights!
We have both colour changing fairly lights in living room and icicle style outdoor lights in garden on permanent display!

I wouldn't make the effort to put up temporary lights just yet, but if others did it I'd like it!

It's quite normal to see houses dec'd out early, alot of families have members who work offshore so celebrate when they are all together. I suppose it would be similar if you lived near military barracks too.

I didn't put the lights a way last year and strung them on our book case instead.

I love Christmas but get fatigued and sick of it by the time it arrives if I start thinking about it too early. Hearing Christmas music etc in November just feels ‘wrong’ somehow. Tree normally goes up first weekend of December. Fair play to anyone who does it early of course, I just know I couldn’t sustain festive cheer for that long!

I wouldn’t stop anyone but I do internally eyeroll if they’re up before December. Every year Christmas seems to get earlier and earlier and I’m to the point I’m already off and over it by mid-November. It’s one day that seems to last for months.
