COP and climate change.

Posting this in AIBU for traffic! I just looked at the climate change board - it's barely used. Why is climate change so little discussed here? Do people think COP is actually going to make a difference this time? If so, what's going to change?
All opinions welcome!

You think is climate change is little discussed here. Are you new to AIBU, OP. Every other thread is about what little things people can do and we’ll intentioned ideas like using bamboo toothbrushes. While US and China continue to be the world biggest carbon emitters.

I take your point. No, I'm not new (have had a few namechanges). It's not the little stuff I'm interested in so much as what people think the governments will do or not do and how those decisions will affect all of us. Or will they continue to make plans but do not much.

And yet you're posting in AIBU. Just because a topic isn't discussed on a certain board doesn't mean it's not discussed.

Well I don't think it's discussed much if you compare it to say, Brexit or Covid. And arguably more important than both. Harder to get your head round I guess. I'd like to know why people don't engage with it. I'm interested.

Maybe coz people who do discuss it usually post it in the context of something else so use AIBU or chat.

It’s a fair question. I think the alarmist attitude is not shared by all governments around the world. Other wise the Chinese would be doing more, after all they live on the same planet as everyone else who thinks there is a climate emergency. I think there is a big political shift going on where new industries will spring out of this rhetoric. Which is no bad thing, a post oil energy supply is inevitable. After all fossil fuels have only been a thing for the last 300 years or so and oil for the last 100. This is not a conspiracy theory, but just a historical observation that nothing, but nothing happens by accident. If you follow the money, you see how change is engineered, usually to drive some macro-economic strategy.
