Posting for traffic, sorry!

What is the typical duration one is prescribed 150mg aspirin in pregnancy for a previous sga baby? I started at 8 weeks.

I’m now 36, have never seen a consultant, have asked 5 midwives at various appointments when I should stop taking it and have been told They don’t know and will get back to me. No one has got back to me and I’ve reached out to the community midwife office and the ante natal day assessment unit and nothing. The most recent midwife at 36 weeks said you take it either to 36/7 weeks or to the end, she couldn’t remember but it can increase bleeding or the risk of haemorrhage she thought but couldn’t remember and callled to ask but no band 6 was there? (I don’t know what this means)

The risk of bleeding or haemorrhage sounds like something I’d like to avoid.

Is there any one on MN who knows when someone is typically advised to take aspirin to in pregnancy?

I was told to take it until 24 hours before elcs at 36+5. I actually stopped at 36 weeks because I was panicking at the risks of early labour and hemorraging.

I had a friend that was taking it for low Papp A and she was told up to 36 weeks. I’m just confused and concerned no one knows and no one is getting back to me and I’ve been asking since 32 weeks (I don’t have a named community midwife so I’ve just been seeing who ever calls my name at the clinic)

Is there possibly anything written on your maternity notes, sometimes I find it hard to navigate my way through them all to find something but it's usually written down even though I have to check several times before I find it.
I'm in a similar position, I'm 37 weeks and I'm still on aspirin to help prevent pre-eclampsia. I'm also anemic and symptomatic which puts me at higher risk for hemorrhaging during labour. It says on my notes to take them to the end of pregnancy but as far as I can see many people are told to stop taking them at 36 weeks. Im seeing the consultant on thurs when I will be 38 weeks. Seems a bit too close to the end but I'm concerned to stop taking them unless medically advised.

My consultant advised taking it to the end. Her opinion was that the aspirin is (basically) being used to optimise placental function, so why stop using it just as the placenta starts to age and degrade? Made sense to me.
She did point out, though, that other medical professionals advise you to stop as it’s a blood thinner so could increase your chance of haemorrhage. The impression she gave me was that it was a minimal risk but maybe that was a minimal risk to me specifically.

I think it must be pretty minimal either way as otherwise there would be VERY CLEAR guidelines for everyone to follow.

In our area, like most, it's 150mg once a night until the end (that's a relatively recent change so there's sometimes confusion). The risk of it causing or contributing to significant hemorrhaging is very small and
the benefits are known. Congratulations BTW!

Thank you! I stopped taking it 2 days ago as I was a bit worried but maybe I should re start?

There’s literally nothing written in my notes, we’ve got that badger app and it doesn’t say anything 🤷‍♀️ Not the most helpful

Ahh pressed send to soon, stupid thumbs! Lol

I go to a midwife led yoga class and asked there and she said she was really shocked that no one seems to know, she thought generally 36 weeks too? All very confusing xxx

I was on this decades ago with both my pregnancies. I was told by my constant to stop taking it at 36 weeks. It's to allow for an early birth if this is needed or happens naturally.
