I was off ill from work and a colleague was too. She worked in a different dept but we were friendly at work. By chance we were both signed off by our doctors at the same time. We became very close. She was off sick for 6 months; I was off for one year and have now left the job. Durung the time we were off we saw each other once a week/supported each other etc etc. As soon as she returned after 6 months sick leave I was dropped like a hot potato. I feel very hurt and behaved quite angrily saying I felt that I had supported her but as soon as she returned to work I felt that she stopped supporting me. Any advice? We live 10 mins walk away and I feel ut was an intense friendship at the time and sad about the way I've handled things. I used to go for walks with her and her dog. She cut contact with me throughout a long summer holiday but posted on our WhatsApp group about catching up with friends. Feeling hurt and silly...

I guess that while she was off work, it was convenient to have a friend who was also around during the day. It was inevitable that she would have less opportunity to spend time with you once back at work, but hurtful that she didn't find time to meet up at all during the holidays (I'm guessing that the reference to summer holidays means you worked in a school).

You're perhaps moving in different directions now anyway, if she's made it back to work and you're no longer intending to return - the sense of mutual support may no longer be there. Hopefully you can find some new companions.

You're spot on with the school. Yes it has made me wary re future friendships I have old friends 8 trust but feel like I mess up new ones. Yes it was probably to do with convenience.
First time posting on here...needed to get that off my chest. Thanks
