What do you think will change

The price of accommodation in Glasgow

BashfulClam · 28/10/2021 23:45

It’s a stupid pointless conference. All flying in with a massive carbon footprint. I’ll be working from home and avoiding Glasgow for the next two weeks.

Thedogscollar · 29/10/2021 01:09

Precisely nothing.

DdraigGoch · 29/10/2021 01:26

Oh look, another event where people fly in to work out how to reduce emissions. Teslas powered by diesel generators too. We're f*ed if this is supposed to save the planet.

Now if the government really did want to make a difference, they'd put punitive charges on kerosene (aviation fuel), except for usage by the emergency services and connections to remote communities. Then they'd start a programme to build enough nuclear power stations to cover 70% of demand and electrify the railways. That can then be followed by stiff charges on the use of private cars in cities. Electric cars are a waste of time too if you are serious, bicycles and public transport are the future.

Covid infection rate in Glasgow

plinkplinkfizzer · 29/10/2021 01:54

I too am worried about rising Covid numbers in Glasgow/Scotland .
Oh and also Americans mispronouncing Glas gow .😆

DrManhattan · 29/10/2021 18:41

Nowt

Dazzledee · 29/10/2021 20:14

The commute to and from work.

ShinyHappyPoster · 29/10/2021 20:19

Travel and Covid rates in Glasgow.

It's stupid and irresponsible and will change nothing in environmental terms.

Only other thing that might change is Insulate and XR might rethink their protesting strategy. I don't think their obstructing techniques will go down well in Scotland. And I doubt the police will be as understanding when they have so many VIPs to protect.

Returnoftheowl · 29/10/2021 20:33

Covid rates in the Glasgow area... Other then that, not much.

GrandTheftWalrus · 29/10/2021 20:36

Not seeing dh for 3 weeks while he works at it.

Covid rates will go up and we'll be fired into another lockdown by Xmas.

You are right there did you see how they deal with terrorists in Glasgow .😂
GrandTheftWalrus · 29/10/2021 20:44

Literally just seen someone offering a house to rent on fb for 5k per week. He's basically emptied it and put single beds everywhere! For cop26.

ElizabethG81 · 29/10/2021 20:48

Police coverage in the rest of the UK. I was on the M6 today and saw at least 50-60 police vans driving north from various forces, let's just hope they won't be needed in their local areas over the next couple of weeks.

StoneofDestiny · 29/10/2021 21:14

The dialogues are important - this is one thing the world needs to cooperate on.

mibbelucieachwell · 29/10/2021 21:18

Hmm time will tell.

I think it's a good thing that so many leaders are meeting. To be fair to the politicians, though I can hardly believe I'm saying that - I loath our current government and don't rate the Scottish government either - if they implemented measures to protect the environment that inconvenience and cost the electorate I'd put money on them not being voted in again. We need a global effort - even if Britain achieved nett zero the global impact would be minimal and would presumably put us at a competitive disadvantage.

Sometimes I feel hopeful as there's so much more awareness of the problems now, but then I think of the covid vaccines and how the rich countries are hogging them and feel depressed again.

LagunaBubbles · 29/10/2021 21:21

My ability to do my job. I'm a Psychiatric Nurse and I need to be in a building that I probably won't be in on time because if the predicted traffic chaos.

LagunaBubbles · 29/10/2021 21:24

Sadly not the any opportinitu to have a go at the SNP by the looks of it though...

FreedomFaith · 29/10/2021 21:26

Nothing.

mibbelucieachwell · 29/10/2021 21:46

The SNP isn't shy at having at go at other people @LagunaBubbles

Travis1 · 29/10/2021 22:06

Fuck all except my commute time. And if any of those protesting wankers start on the M8 I won’t be responsible for my actions 🙄

FreedomFaith · 30/10/2021 09:43

Yes and they should really remove the rose coloured glasses and take a good look at the shit state they have put Scotland into before they go jumping on anyone else for their mistakes.

The price of accommodation in Glasgow
Yep. And thats all it will do
Thurlow · 30/10/2021 09:48

A really tough two weeks at home as DH has gone to work at it (the policing bills are going to be through the roof!) and I’m flying solo with two kids and apparently a load of meetings in the office in London Confused

I do hope something comes out of it, but to be honest I’m a little more distracted by this…

TokyoSushi · 30/10/2021 09:49

They'll make 'a commitment' to something, then all go home and carry on as before.
