I have just about had enough. I have lived in this private rental property for nearly 5 months and since I moved in the window in the bathroom does shut because it doesn’t have a handle on it. It’s the only window in the bathroom. My Landlady said she was aware of it when I moved in and would get somebody to sort it as soon as possible. Couple months in and I hadn’t heard back from the contractor who was going to come and look at it. 2 weeks ago he came and said the mechanism is worn so there’s no way a new handle can be fitted and that a new window needs fitting. Landlady spoke to window man who said he will come out, but is yet to let me know when or arrange suitable days and times.
My issue is the window keeps blowing wide open, I have a 2 year old and it’s absolutely freezing in the bathroom. I have to climb up on the bath to shut it when it blows open and the other day I slipped and bruised my leg when trying to reach it. It’s no use as it just blows open again anyway. So not only is it not secure, it’s freezing and a hazard.
Window man has messaged me saying he will shrew the window shut. I didn’t think that was possible due to fire safety? It’s the only escape route in the room due to being the only window. I’m so fed up of this
