To think they should have told us this?

We have just arrived at our Air Bnb apartment...

However, just gone outside on the balcony which is one of the main reasons I booked it but despite it being really sunny we cant go out as its really noisy and basically a building site!!

AIBU to think they should have mentioned the building works ? Should we ask for some money back as its cost nearly £800?

Know we are very lucky but cant help feeling a bit mugged off??

What does the description say regarding the balcony…anything about disruptive use? I would get in touch now and say that out of courtesy you should have been advised prior to your stay. That way you could have negotiated a discount due to not being able to use that particular facility.
If the owner/agent says they were unaware, they know now so can offer you a partial refund I assume?

There must be wording in the contract or Ts & Cs about this sort of incident? The owner wouldn’t want this left as negative feedback I’d have thought.

Never used AirBnb so am only going on expectations & what seems fair for both parties.

I would really hate this and would at least want to raise it.

I know they can't control it, but it's your holiday!

Thanks ladies, that's very helpful.

Tried to post the (v noisy) video but only allowed photos... am getting a headache with the drilling. Feel sorry for the residents, they're only on ground level!

On Monday they starting digging up the road outside my house. They can't legally drill until 8.30am but I have have outside effing and jeffing from 7.30am.

Wouldn't be a problem but it's half term, I am off work this week and we are all ill / recovering from illness / exhausted and we have pneumatic drills shaking the house for 7 or 8 hours a day. The lay-ins and lazy days in our PJs haven't happened.

It's shit but it really is out of my control.

By all means raise it with the host but I don't think there is much they can do?
Whereabouts are you @WorkHardPlayHard1 ?

I think it’ll depend where you are as to what the noise regulations are there.
