To not bother rinsing washing that's been rained on?

I am in London if that affects things, although not in a trafficky area.

The washing includes my son's bed sheets, my pants, some socks and my sweatshirt. It was rained on (and completely soaked) by a shower at lunchtime.

I am trying to think why I should rinse it or if I'm ok to go with my instinct and give it a quick tumble dry.

YABU: How disgusting, rinse it at once
YANBU: Bring it in and chuck it in the tumble

It wouldn't occur to me to rinse rain soaked washing. It's only water.

If anything, give it a spin cycle in the washer if yours has one, to remove any excess moisture from the rain before tumbling it

No, life’s too short! My washing got soaked too at lunchtime, so I am feeling your pain.

I am also a Londoner. I don't have a tumble dryer. I would never re-wash or rinse washing - it's only rain!

I had a friend round for coffee and she looked into the garden and said 'Oh you'll have to rinse that' and it made me doubt myself.

If my washing gets rained on, it gets left out until it stops raining and dries again. If it rains for days I might bring it in to dry, but wouldn't think of rinsing it.
