I'm due a CT scan for an Aorta Aneurysm. Any ideas what I'll have to wear?

I'm guessing they'll make you change into a gown?
Hope all goes well.

I've had them on my abdominal area before. Avoid anything with metal in, no underwires, piercings might need to come out too.

My last one, I went straight from work to the hospital so took pj bottoms and spare tshirt to get changed into when I got there and but they had gowns available if I needed one

They'll have hospital gowns but you may want to bring an oversized t-shirt or pyjamas in case there's gaping at the back (some gowns aren't the best at staying closed!).

I'd also recommend ensuring you have socks you can wear, as hospital floors can be a bit yucky and you won't want to be barefoot.

You'll need to remove jewellery for some scans, so don't wear anything too expensive or important, just in case. There should be a locker you can use to store things, but hospitals have signs up saying they refuse to accept liability if anything happens to your property, so it's probably easiest to just leave important or expensive things at home where they'll be safer.

Just back from a scan. No metal items. Our hospital have gowns with three armholes,. they wrap round you so there is no embarrassing gap!
I kept my shoes on till I got on the bed.

I wore gown and kept my stretchy trousers on - also my heart being scanned.

FYI the dye they inject makes you feel like you e wet yourself - they’ll explain. It’s fine but be aware.

I was very nervous but it was absolutely fine and the medics doing the business were fab and very kind.

I had one recently, just wore leggings, sports bra and vest top. Wasn't actually even asked if I wanted/needed a gown.

I have aneurysms and have regular ct scans- I just wear a tshirt and loose track pants - no metal so no underwired or bra with metal clips. Otherwise they'll ask you to gown up

Floralnomad · 25/10/2021 15:15

I had a CT chest recently and didn’t change out of my clothes as I didn’t have any metal on / no bra wires etc .
