To think this is a passive aggressive thing to say?

Having an argument with my DP I told him I felt about something and that I didn’t want to do something (go to his parents house when I was unwell). He told them we would come even after I said I didn’t want to go

He told me he hadn’t told them we were going. He did I heard him.

Anyway he’s stormed out and I text him saying we can’t carry on like this

He replied “fine. If that’s how you feel. I’m not persuading you”

I don't think it is passive aggressive.

Do you think he means it? Have you been arguing a lot recently? Has he gone to his parents now?

I hope you feel better soon and things improve Flowers

That isn't passive aggressive. Perhaps he was going to make an excuse for you not being there face-to-face?

Monsterpumpkins · 24/10/2021 18:12

I hope you don't go apologising op... You have done nothing wrong...

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 24/10/2021 18:12

I don't think it's passive aggressive. He didn't respect you and didn't like you calling him out on it. He's either genuinely had enough or he's in a huff.

MiddleClassProblem · 24/10/2021 18:14

Maybe you misheard him or that you only heard half the conversation and interpreted it incorrectly or like PP said, maybe he knows it’s better to not say it in advance to them.

You certainly don't have to go to his parents', and he shouldn't try to commit you if you don't want to go.

But when you said "We can't carry on like this", were you expecting him to apologise and beg you to change your mind? If so that was a risky strategy which hasn't paid off. And on the face of it, an argument about going to the in-laws hardly seems worth threatening to end a relationship over?

Doesn't sound passive aggressive to me but certainly sounds like there is a back story with your relationship that needs sorting out.

LittleLadyCece · 24/10/2021 18:39

Also hope you feel better soon OP Flowers
