GoFund and similar seem to be rife on the social network sites but I cannot help but wonder how many are for a genuine cause and how many are for peoples own pockets with elaborate stories to tug your heartstrings and dig deep in pockets? I give you two examples;

First is a young man with damaged ankles caused by a 25ft fall does not say how he managed to do that perhaps a work accident or just a drunken accident. Anyway suddenly he had an urgent operation or he would never walk again shows young man on a mobility scooter and crutches very easy to take a photo of a man on the above items, then shows the young man in a hospital bed with plaster on. not sure how you would do that maybe someone who is a hospital worker sneaking you in or some kind of photoshop. then comes the please Gofund to help my family while I am laid up but I see now the account has gone so maybe I was right it was a scam.
Secondly animals are a good one for extracting money from people. there is a man who in all fairness looks quite rough missing teeth etc makes you wonder if he is an addict of some sort by his appearance oh and forgot to say this is an American site. He adopted a few dogs who are special needs and then he decided to adopt another dog shows him on a beach in what looks like a very luxurious place think Hawaii or similar then cuddling dogs. not sure why he had to go to such a place when there are lots of dogs at home needing homes. then he comes back decides he wants to start a rescue, photo of a building he wants to use for the rescue and thus it starts please Gofund. to raise money meet one of his dogs at a park shows live footage of it but not that many people to be honest it looked like his family just having a day out. then starts the merchandise to send for American only postage now the funds have gone down a bit more emotional videos now they are saying the main dog is seriously ill and they cannot afford vet so yes more money!
i am sure there are genuine ones but I cannot help but feel i am being taken for a mug with some of these
please vote if think i am being unfair or if you agree with me

Some probably are scams yes. But a lot are legitimate too. You don’t have to give money to any of them if you don’t wish to do so.
I don’t think it’s fair to comment on their appearances though.

if it makes you feel uncomfortable or "taken for a mug" why waste your time looking at the site?
If you want to give money, look at registered charities where you can inspect their accounts, or good causes close to you that you support.

It's like any charity. You give if you think it's something you want to support. Otherwise just scroll past.
