I don’t really know what my actual AIBU is, but I found this story incredibly sad.

I hope the investigation gains traction again for the sake of the woman and her family. It really seems like everything got held up (or blocked) and diplomatic immunity was an issue. I really struggle reading about woman being treated in this way.

I think the story is behind a paywall but I managed to read it on the news app on my iPhone.

You're right it is very sad - and i'm not in the least bit surprised that the army closed ranks and covered up the crime. I hope that womans family get justice somehow.

Imagine, that was 10 years ago so some other poor woman is probably blissfully married to him now without really knowing who he truly is.

Yep, to be honest the whole culture seems wrong. Sticking their genitals through a wire fence so the women can perform sex acts and passing money through. The now more common excuse of accidental killing via choking. I can’t imagine how people can treat other humans this way.
