Long queue of people waiting to be served in q restaurant lady been served at front pulls out a £20 note and unwittingly drags out a sanitary towel which falls onto the floor and she is none the wiser. Nobody said anything and I felt a bit embarrassed to tell her. What would you do.

Yes dont worry crumpled just means it was one that she'd kept in her bag for years for an emergency that had never happened! you should just have told her shed dropped something and politely pretended not to notice what it was! its no big issue! periods are the norm!

girlmom21 · 23/10/2021 19:19

It's embarrassing that grown adults are embarrassed by sanitary products tbh.

Cantstopthewaves · 23/10/2021 19:26

I know one woman who has carried a used sanitary pad in her bag.
I also know a woman who carried a poo wrapped in toilet tissue on one occasion.

Cantstopthewaves · 23/10/2021 19:27

Posted too soon.

Therefore I'd have said nothing.

Stickyblue1987 · 23/10/2021 19:37

Used or unused I would've said to the person that they had dropped something and pretended not to notice what it was. I don't think grown women usually keep a used sanitary towel in their bag unless there weren't appropriate provisions to dispose of it. I certainly don't think they'd drop it on purpose.

scully29 · 23/10/2021 19:38

For non disposable ones (which everyone should be using!) we would be carrying used ones in a bag in a bag, but I am assuming from the description that this was an unused old emergency yet destroyed by bag life disposable and therefore not a worry to point out to someone. If my nondisposable bag had fallen out I would very much rather someone told me at that point and not found it a worry to tell me.

EishetChayil · 23/10/2021 19:42

Have I stepped into a 1992 edition or Just Seventeen magazine? There's nothing embarrassing about sanitary products. The era of "omg a sannie" is over.

dudsville · 23/10/2021 19:44

Indeed!

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 23/10/2021 20:46

@Tevion28 Same, except my escapee slowly rolled across the floor and came to a halt amidst a queue of men. I disowned it.

Mammyloveswine · 23/10/2021 21:42

Sorry what?? A poo??!! In her bag??? Why??
WellLarDeDar · 23/10/2021 21:59

@Cuntness

She dropped a youknows!

The horror!

Omg I had almost forgotten about the youknows thread and you've just reminded me! It's still so cringey!!!!!! Hahahaha!

OP I it looked used I would tap her on the shoulder and say excuse you just dropped that. If it was unused I would have just picked it up and given it back to her, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Cantstopthewaves · 23/10/2021 22:04

It refused to flush away @Mammyloveswine.
Woman thought it best to scoop it out of the toilet and take it home with her rather than leave it in new boyfriend's loo so the poo travelled across the City in woman's handbag.

BrilliantBetty · 23/10/2021 22:22

I have an aunt who doesn't keep a bin in her loo. She puts her products directly in the only bin, in the kitchen, I presume. I stayed with her as a teen for a weekend while 'on'. I had no idea what to do.
Option 1. Wrap it up in loo roll and put in kitchen bin even with her, her husband, sons, in there. I was embarrassed to do that. What if someone noticed or went through the bin for some reason, looking for recycling for example.
Option 2. See if it will flush? Risk of much more embarrassing toilet blockage.
Option 3. Wrap it up and stuff it in my bag until I figured this out or got home.

Maybe she was in a situation similar to that and just didn't know what to do with it.

BrilliantBetty · 23/10/2021 22:24

and i'd have probably just said 'oh whoops a tissue fell out of your bag'. Otherwise it's just there awkwardly on the floor.
