AIBU to be freaked out by this.

We have found 3 of these in random places on our upstairs carpet over the last few days. They are a beige/green colour about 1cm across, 0.5 deep and 2cm long with a little black tail thing. Do I need to burn down my house?

Do they move? Can you do a Google image search?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 23/10/2021 09:24

Are we sure it's definitely not a turd Grin

WheelieBinPrincess · 23/10/2021 09:24

It’s a larvae of some sort I think?!

TheSeventeenth · 23/10/2021 09:25

They kind of convulse 🤢 in and out of a c-shape.

Do I need to burn down my house? 🤣

Isn’t it some sort of a chrysalis?

Bouncebacker · 23/10/2021 09:25

Carpet beatle larvae I think.... we had an infestation and have replaced wool carpets with 100% synthetic....

TheSeventeenth · 23/10/2021 09:25

It is some sort of larvae but what?!

OP posts:
Mamamamasaurus · 23/10/2021 09:25

Poo nugget?

clockover · 23/10/2021 09:26

It's probably a moth larvae

Builderscrack · 23/10/2021 09:26

Grim for sure 🤢

TheSeventeenth · 23/10/2021 09:26

It doesn’t have any legs and is quite big.

OP posts:
TheSeventeenth · 23/10/2021 09:27

Really doesn’t look like carpet beetle larvae following a Google search.

OP posts:
LaMadrilena · 23/10/2021 09:28

Carpet beetles are much smaller, about 5mm long and hairy. Other than that, can't help...

WheelieBinPrincess · 23/10/2021 09:28

Moth, I would wager.

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 23/10/2021 09:28

🤮

Sorry don't know what it is though

TheSeventeenth · 23/10/2021 09:28

Not a poo nugget or chrysalis. It moves.

OP posts:
clockover · 23/10/2021 09:29

Moth. Your pic looks a bit darker but I suspect it's just the lighting/angle. That's a moth larvae.

What the heck is this creature?!?

@TheSeventeenth

They kind of convulse 🤢 in and out of a c-shape.
Perhaps he's stressed...having an existential crisis...."what even am I?" he thinks, convulsing in panic.
WheelieBinPrincess · 23/10/2021 09:31

@DaisyNGO Grin I love it!

TheSeventeenth · 23/10/2021 09:32

It is quite dark and doesn’t have any legs can that still be a moth larvae.

My house is honestly quite clean!

OP posts:
MrsWooster · 23/10/2021 09:33

Throw them far, far away, Sprinkle diatomaceous Earth all over the carpets. Then burn your house down anyway.

HarrysChild · 23/10/2021 09:39

could it be casemaker moth? Had an infestation of these on an old carpet once…any threadbare patches anywhere on carpets?

Calvinlookingforhobbes · 23/10/2021 09:39

Moths

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 23/10/2021 09:41

Googled and think it might be a soldier fly larva. There are a few forms but it looks like your beastie. I guess one got in and laid a few eggs before dying - sweep up and chuck out. It'll be OK.

mogtheexcellent · 23/10/2021 09:41

I love that you took a million photos to select the best one for posting. Grin

Sorry no idea what it could be though.
