Recommendations for London-based gynae surgeons?

Hi all, I'm new to this site and have reposted this from general health for traffic. I see all sorts of interesting topics being discussed here and I'm hoping that some of you may be able to help with recommendations for London-based gynaecologists who are also surgeons, either NHS or private.

I need to have an abdominal hysterectomy, ovaries and a large ovarian tumour (not malignant, TG) removed and know it can take months to recover. I can’t pretend I’m not nervous but it would be very reassuring to know that whoever does the op is highly competent and recognised as top of their game/leader in their field.

Thanks and looking forward to your recommendations.

Try Adrian Lower - I had some investigations done with him and thought he was great, and comes well recommended.

(Also, hope you're ok and good luck!)

Sorry to hear you are going through this. I hope you are not suffering too much.

I don’t know where you are in London or how far you are able/happy to travel. You could try Andrew Pooley or Michael Davis in SW London. From my perspective they are good surgeons and Andrew Pooley does take time to answer questions and make you feel comfortable. Having said that depending on how complex your case is you might struggle to find a surgeon willing to conduct the procedure in a private capacity.

Don’t underestimate how long recovery can take. When/if you do know you will be having surgery you might find it helpful to look for a women’s physio in advance.

Good luck finding someone.
