Pepperoni under cheese

We have takeaway pizza very rarely - both kids ill this week and last night called for a glass of wine and phoning for food. My pizza arrived with the pepperoni a sweaty, jelly-like mass underneath the cheese leaving me irrationally cross.

What inconsequential, minor inconvenience can really ruin your day?

Wtf? Were they trying to hide it?! I have never heard of someone putting the pepperoni under the cheese. That's outrageous.

LittleDandelionClock · 21/10/2021 12:39

@Cbd333

Oh, I actually prefer the pepperoni under the cheese. (Like, spread on top, with cheese sprinkled over it...) Or did you mean it was underneath the cheese that was spread over the pizza BASE?

Cbd333 · 21/10/2021 12:43

@LittleDandelionClock it went base, tomato sauce, sweetcorn (controversial I know) THEN cheese. Perverse.

Pepperoni between the tomato sauce and sweetcorn

Badly cut pizza - ie not cut properly right through, and even worse, if the slices aren't very equal Angry

PinkFizz1 · 21/10/2021 12:45

OP are you in Scotland?

I’d never ever had pepperoni under cheese on a takeaway pizza until I moved to Scotland. I’ve lived here nearly 10 years and everywhere I’ve got takeaway pizza from does it. Even the Asda/Morrison’s pizza counter! I find it very strange.

Theres your problem Sweetcorn on a pizza is an abomination I usually have sauce, cheese, pepperoni and another sprinkle of cheese but not excessive.

The only thing controversial about sweetcorn on pizza is if there isn't enough of it.

LittleDandelionClock · 21/10/2021 13:07

@Cbd333 Oh right Smile

I actually always put the pepperoni on top of everything when I do a pizza. (I don't make it it per se, but I get a fresh cheese and tomato one from a supermarket, then add my own ingredients...) I put pineapple on it, pepperoni, a bit of sliced mushroom, and a bit of raw onion, and then cheese grated on top. Wouldn't have the pepperoni on top of the cheese. Each to their own. Smile

LittleDandelionClock · 21/10/2021 13:08

I mean I actually always put the CHEESE on top of everything when I do a pizza!

Where in Scotland do you live? I have never seen this in 38 years 🤣

I think they do this as the pepperoni falls off when they batter and deep fry the pizza, not 100% sure though
PinkFizz1 · 21/10/2021 13:56

@Arewenearly I’ve lived in numerous places mostly in the West, but I have had it once when I’ve been over in Fife as well! Blew my mind. Even when they make your pizzas at the pizza counters in the supermarkets round here they put cheese on the top of all the other toppings, instead of other toppings on top of cheese. 🤔

Damnreallivepeople · 21/10/2021 16:49

takeaways in manchester do this too, I hate it. It's a fucking topping.

Arewenearly · 21/10/2021 16:54

@PinkFizz1 I've lived in Glasgow my whole life and never had this, how odd 🤔 I'll be on the look out now 🤣

TinnedPotatoesRock · 21/10/2021 17:15

We ordered pizza from a different place last week, it was about 2 inches tall from top to bottom and all the toppings were under the cheese. It was not good, couldn't lift a slice with your hands and once the cheese had started to cool, it was just rubbery. Awful.

Love sweetcorn on a pizza though, our dog sits at our feet for when it inevitably rolls off

Cbd333 · 21/10/2021 18:13

As an aside, the create your own pizzas at Asda are very good, they remind me of the ones my mum used to buy me when I was little.

I still also miss the Heinz baked beans pizza!

Do you live in Letchworth? There was a pizza delivered to the local vegetarian school, which was known as a St Chris (name of school) pizza. It was essentially ham and pepperoni disguised under a heavy layer of cheese.

HangOnToYourself · 21/10/2021 18:19

I once recieved a takeaway pizza and I shit you not the "cheese" was 3 barely melted cheese slices (the cheap American stuff you put on burgers). The words coming out of my mouth would have made a sailor blush
