Not long in from the school run.

Have made myself a lovely big bowl of super spicy noodles with a side order of white bread buttered with mayo.....

Its 930am. The guilt.... AIBU????

YABU- the bread should have been toast - lovely crunch contrast with the soft noodles and doesn't go soggy when you load the noodles on 😋(searches around in cupboard for spicy noodles)

Dd 2 never eats typical breakfast things - the other morning it was veg samosas, sometimes makes 'pizza' from a pitta bread with a smear of tomato purée and cheese. If you're going to overload on carbs though the morning is the time to do it as you have all day to burn it off! 😁

ClinkeyMonkey · 21/10/2021 10:41

I couldn't eat that in the morning myself (too set in my ways), but it sounds delicious and YANBU!

WhatsAppening · 21/10/2021 10:44

I quite often have a pack of instant noodles for breakfast. They’re easy and taste awesome.

I had Coco Pops this morning though. 🥣

Gin4thewin4 · 21/10/2021 10:45

@Iamnotminterested
Lol!!! I was debating between the use of spread or buttered, never considered mayoed 🤣🤣

I have ramen noodles for breakfast all the time! Perfectly normal in many parts of the world.

I find it bizarre that English people cram themselves with sugary desserts marketed as "breakfast food" every morning, and act like any deviation from their precious "breakfast food" is a crime against nature!

If I want to feel a bit more virtuous, I stick a few decorative veggies or soy protein chunks in the bowl, but sometimes only plain noodles will do!

scully29 · 21/10/2021 10:52

now i reeeeaaallly want noodles!

Gin4thewin4 · 21/10/2021 11:03

Interesting that noodles are a breakfast staple in some countries, I could well live there, noodles are hard to beat Grin

@liveforsummer
Toast sounds good, I will be sure to try that next time and your daughter has great breakfast options, who wants bog standard toast and cereal all the time??

Thanks everyone, the guilt has gone, I may even have noodles for breakfast tomorrow again Wink

I quite often have rice or noodles for breakfast. I sometimes add an egg to them. Sometimes I have new potatoes and salmon. I'm not fond of the more traditional breakfast foods. I had turkey, cranberry and stuffing on toast for breakfast this morning. Bloody lush it was.

AdaColeman · 21/10/2021 12:04

Cut the link between food and guilt, you will enhance your life! 🍜 🍜 🍜

@Herecomesspring1

That sounds absolutely amazing. Turkey rashers??

I had this for lunch today. I’m 26 weeks pregnant and trying to eat healthier in the second trimester which I’ve been achieving but today called for a first trimester classic 😂
Gin4thewin4 · 21/10/2021 13:32

@AdaColeman
I know what you mean, food is food but I think depending on what way you were brought up and influenced, noodles for breakfast would be seen as really unhealthy and fattening.
I remember eating left over chinese at about 10am and my mum could NOT believe that I would eat that to start my day and how I wasn't 10 stone heavier with habits like that... Grin

@Gin4thewin4 No, it was a combination of the following:

This toasted with butter:

Then spread with cranberry sauce and topped with slices of this:

Can't say that it was the healthiest but it was bloody lush! Had it every day this week! And it's kept me full until now - haven't had lunch yet.

Gin4thewin4 · 21/10/2021 13:37

@Herecomesspring1

Oh wow.

Thanks for this, I will certainly be trying!!

Never heard of spicy noodles or eating mayo’ed bread…
Explain the noodles? Do you buy them spiced or add spice…what spice?

Like super noodles, maggi noodles etc? You've never heard of them?
fallfallfall · 21/10/2021 15:40

@liveforsummer, nope nor have I ever seen anyone eat bread with only mayo toasted or plain.
I have seen ramen noodles in the store though.

ThisIsTheEndMyFriend · 21/10/2021 15:49

I was going to say it depends what you had for breakfast, but as it was your breakfast that’s perfectly healthy.
I have a cooked breakfast every day. Enjoy whatever you want.

Gin4thewin4 · 21/10/2021 16:05

@fallfallfall
They are koka oriental instant noodles..... spicy stir fry flavor.
And yes I am not fussed on butter so had plain white bread with a thin layer of mayo..... in which I added noodles on top Wink

Sounds good....I eat my lunch regularly at 11am or 11.30 so I don't eat breakfast....so eat two meals a day...nothing wrong with a Noddle snack

fallfallfall · 21/10/2021 16:09

a noodle open-faced sandwich
obviously once the noodles are cooked they are drained well and not dripping wet??

liveforsummer · 21/10/2021 16:38

Sometimes at work there are left over cheese rolls from school lunches. Scooping some pot noodle on to them is a treat!

I love a school lunch leftover cheese sandwich! They’re my favourite guilty pleasure.
Gin4thewin4 · 21/10/2021 16:40

@fallfallfall

They are dripping with deliciousness, the bread soaks it all up and it is a spicy, noodley mess Smile
