To be scared of going to the office after starting a new job remotely?

I started a new job remotely a couple of months ago, and it coincided with when my company started slowly returning to the office. I have been to the office only a couple of times and have managed to get out of going the rest of the times citing too heavy a workload and being able to work better at home, and I have also been ill.

I hated going to the office. I think had I gone there for an interview I would have turned down the job offer as I can feel that I just don't fit in with the company culture.

I also find it really awkward meeting colleagues for the first time in 'real life'.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any advice?

What is it about the company culture that is off putting? I would feel nervous meeting everyone but I think that’s quite normal.

You're just out of habit. People aren't that scary. It will be easy enough within an hour of being there.
