It seems to depend on who is doing the punishing.

Recently I found out than an ex of mine ( from 30 years ago!) was recently sent to prison and sacked from the police force because he had an 11 year affair with a woman he met when he was sent to her house to investigate a crime.

I don't know the details of course- just what I read in the paper- but I felt the punishment he got was much more severe because he was a police officer.

Sorry, I meant to add that maybe a different judge would have handed out a different sentence. There seems to be no consistency.

I saw the 'jaffa cakes' story and it just made me wonder wtf in relation to Wayne Couzens and his 'alleged' nickname of 'the rapist' - what's going on...

@Movinghouseatlast it is an abuse of trust.

Doctors, teachers and people in many other professions aren't allow to date members of the public they meet on the job.

I suspect in the person you dated years ago case the relationship was abusive in some form hence the 11 year sentence.

Yes, absolutely! He had an 11 year affair, not sentence. His sentence was 15 months.

My point is the lack of consistency as I see it.
