To keep the leather jacket?

After years of wanting one, I’ve finally bought myself a (midlife crisis) leather jacket. Tried on a few . Found one that looks just right. BUT it’s really squeaky. It squeaks with every step.

Will this wear off? Can I do anything to get rid of squeak. I’m already a bit self conscious in a biker jacket will i never wear it if it squeaks every time I move?

YABU - return it while you can . Get something from joules instead.
YANBU - you’ll look way too cool for anyone to ask if you have mice in your pockets

Is it actually leather? It's usually imitation leather that's squeaky.

Grellbunt · 19/10/2021 14:23

That's going to drive you mad

Shakirasma · 19/10/2021 14:25

Lots of advice here www.leathercult.com/blog/how-to-keep-your-leather-jacket-from-squeaking/

DampSquidGames · 19/10/2021 14:25

I’d send it back and buy another one. I buy one each year and also have many skirts, leggings and a couple of dresses and have never squeaked!

wouldthatbeworse · 19/10/2021 14:26

It’s a £300 all saints jacket so it should be real leather. All the other ones I tried don’t squeak. I even bought another one of the same style and that’s a squeaker too. It’s going to have to go back isn’t it

Thank you @Shakirasma. I read this earlier - unfortunately I can’t try anything until I’m committed to keeping it (or I don’t think I can anyway)

Has anyone ever de-squeaked a jacket?

The tumble dryer tip in the article sounds risky!

FelicityBeedle · 19/10/2021 14:29

It should stop squeaking as it gets softer with wear. Maybe spend some time scrunching it? And maybe moisturise it? Idk

thereisonlyoneofme · 19/10/2021 14:40

Im afraid you will have to lie in a bath full of sunflower oil for at least 48 hours

pussycatlickinglollyices · 19/10/2021 14:42

If you have to scrunch it and moisturise it Shock then it's not going to leave your wardrobe until you finally sell it on vinted.

Send it back, take the refund and get something else.

I'd just return it. You're going to feel annoyed / self conscious every time you wear it.

Grellbunt · 20/10/2021 07:41

At that price it shouldn't squeak. Return. Tell them too. Quality control at AS must be slipping.

FusionChefGeoff · 20/10/2021 08:04

Oh no my mega expensive All Saints squeaks a bit but I assumed it's because it's new and have gone well beyond the point of being able to return it!

Bought it in Nov 2019 was too cold to wear. Pandemic was too slobby to wear / not going out. Locked down again autumn 2020 and spring 2021 so finally getting its first outing this autumn!!!

onelittlefrog · 20/10/2021 08:59

If you spend £300 on an item of clothing, you want to make sure you feel bloody awesome when you wear it!

So if you can't stop the squeak, send it back.

EnjoyingTheArmoire · 20/10/2021 09:02

I was going to say send it back, but if it's an All Saints I think I'd live with the squeak while it wears in

KarmaStar · 20/10/2021 09:13

You're walking around in something an animal had to die for ,I've no sympathy for you.

And what if it doesn't? You're saying because it's branded she should accept lower quality? That's very weird.
