To not go out for birthday meal because we have colds?

It's DH birthday in a couple of days, myself and DH have a bad cold over the last few days, we have tested and we have had negative Covid results. We might have liked to have gone out for a meal but because we have colds we don't want to go out spreading germs. AIBU to order a takeaway instead of going out for a meal with a cold. The cold was quite bad and I wouldn't want anyone to catch what I had. I do feel better now but DH caught it from me I think and he currently feels how I felt over the weekend. I still have a bit of a mild cough and probably still be contagious.

Stay in and go out when you feel better. I am at the tail end of a cold and have a hacking cough (also not covid). These are nervous times and it would make other people nervous to have you coughing and sneezing near them.

Get well soon!

Why not ask your husband what he would like to do, not the internet? I think his preference is more relevant tbh!

I have and he thinks we should stay in. Just wanted other people's opinions as well.

You could phone your and book a table and say you want to sit near the door as it will be open cause of covid so you wouldn't be making people ill

Then wear mask when going into the toilet in the restaurant

Just stay in, have a nice take away and snuggle up on the sofa with pudding or cake after.

Apart from possible germ spreading it’s best to rest as much as possible to recover from any illness.

CharlotteRose90 · 18/10/2021 22:08

Please do not be selfish and go. I’ve currently got the horrible cold going round and it’s made me so ill. Please don’t be nasty and possibly spread it to someone else.

AuntEater · 18/10/2021 22:12

Just postpone it until you're both feeling better and will both enjoy the meal.

DerAlteMann · 18/10/2021 22:51

Why in heaven's name would you want to go out if you're feeling ill?

Cornishclio · 18/10/2021 22:53

I think you should stay in both because you should not spread germs and you probably won't enjoy the meal out if you are still feeling ill. Covid or not you are still contagious if you are coughing and sneezing.
