What do you eat in a day when breastfeeding?

I'm currently breastfeeding 4 month old dc and have an awful diet. I skip meals and need to cut down on coffee and chocolate. I know I need to eat more frequently but I'm worried I'm going to gain more weight rather than lose and was hoping to get an idea of what/how much I should be eating.

I would love to get an idea of what other breastfeeding Moms are eating on an average day please.

Also occasional Efes shandy

You don't need to blush, you can drink while breastfeeding! The alcohol doesn't filter into the milk in the way you'd think and if you tried to drink the amount needed to make your milk unsafe, you'd basically die of alcohol poisoning. I used to enjoy feeding DC and holiday with baby in one hand and a large gin in the other!

Another 4 month old here, I have a 6 year old and 2 year old too so have to do regular meals for them - my meals aren't too bad, but in-between I'm constantly unwell eating biscuits, it's a rare day I don't get through a packet of chocolate digestives plus cake and other snacks Blush it's awful. I can't fit in anything prepregnancy and am still looking about 6 moths pregnant in maternity clothes. Am trying to eat mor fruit veg and at least get my 5 a day, baby steps! Baby isn't sleeping unless held and wakes at least hourly so I'm exhausted, plus still getting pain post C-section so finding walking and exercise difficult.

Sorry OP, I don't have much helpful for you, just you're not the only one who needs to change! I have read breastfeeding uses 500kcal/day so theoretically you should be able to lose a little weight eating your normal diet (laughs hollowly and searches for another KitKat).

I am always hungry! DS is 8 months now and I'm actively trying to cut down just the right amount so it doesn't affect milk supply. It's hard but the baby weight is gradually coming off (it also helps that I also have a 4 and a 2 year old to run around after at home as well!). I've lost about 1st 4lbs since he was born in Feb this year.

At the moment I generally have weetabix or porridge with full fat milk and a banana for breakfast, fruit or rice cakes and houmous as a snack (with the occasional biscuit), a cheese salad sandwich or equivalent for lunch with either crisps or a small piece of cake/flapjack. Dinner is usually fairly big as I'm trying to stop snacking before bed. We like pasta dishes as a family or fish, potatoes and veg, that sort of thing. Whatever the kids will eat!

I love biscuits, cake and chocolate and it's so hard to resist them. I have pudding maybe twice a week at the moment. Milk supply is fine though and I seem to have found the right balance.

I had 4 meals a day instead of 3 and lots of biscuits.

Would have a smoothie in the morning usually followed by egg on toast about 11. A salad or bagel in the afternoon and a decent dinner with lots of protein and veg.
